Refuge Moede Anterne sur Passy

I arrived at this shelter exhausted from three days of bad weather and muscles screaming at me to return home quickly. Without the words of encouragement from guide Guillaume and the frank and mountain atmosphere of the refuge, I would certainly not have exceeded my strength to discover others or pass the Salenton pass. Certainly the cuisine is not great luxury and the breakfast is a little austere considering the effort required by the hiker but for me, it is a detail. Not crazy. Soup which is actually just hot water with a little broth, overcooked pasta with a simple flavorless tomato sauce. Impossible to take a shower, even cold. I'm not very picky but I must admit that it was the least welcoming refuge of my crossing of the Alps.

Very popular refuge. Possibility of meals with Savoyard fondue!! But lack of staff no doubt, temporary BP on a toilet and no showers...

An almost essential refuge when starting a trek/hike in the area. This seems to be enough to fill the shelter without necessarily worrying about the resulting quality. We had to leave all our belongings in the cellar, the same one where the sewage manhole is located which must have suffered a breakdown that day given the unbearable smell. Nice surprise the next day when I put back the jackets and bags which had soaked up the smell. Just a little note from the boss wouldn't have been too much. Like an embarrassing feeling of omerta when meeting him in the aisles of the shelter.. The strength of the shelter lies in the two young employees on whom the entire activity of the shelter rests. Despite the substantial task, they always remain smiling and welcoming! The view is also superb when the weather is clear.

We camped next to this simply brilliant refuge. Access to water possible to fill your water bottles, open bar which takes credit cards with friendly staff. Possible to take refuge inside for dinner if it rains... And above all a magnificent view.

The place is magnificent but this large refuge is a bit of a “factory”. Drink at the bar not fresh, fondue meal very average and breakfast OK. No shower but this often happens in high altitude refuges. Picnic ok but not cheap... Not a fan at all of the bag in the garage in dirty lockers and smells...
