Restaurant Albert 1er sur Antibes

A good restaurant for seafood, near the main beaches in Antibes. I would say, that as an American who was respectful and spoke French, I was dismissed by the host who originally assigned me to an inside table with no view behind a wall. After I asked to sit outside (during the French “heat dome” of June 2026) it was better but the fan next to me sheltered the French customers, not the Americans. The server, however, was excellent and helpful. The food quite good. For the main, I recommend the moules Marinier, or mussels with fries. Healthy portions.

We had the fish menu for €41 per person, including wine. All three courses were excellent, and the selection was very extensive. The service was very attentive but not intrusive. Outstanding service at a fair price. A perfect evening.

The seafood was of good quality and tasted good, and our overall dining experience was initially very good. However, the handling of the birthday cake service was extremely disappointing. We brought our own birthday cake, and the restaurant did not inform us beforehand that there would be a €18 (2x9) cake service fee when they received and stored it for us. They only informed us when they were about to serve the cake that there was a charge because the restaurant also makes its own cakes. The birthday person had already seen the cake, and the celebration was about to begin. If we refused to pay or gave up the cake at that point, the entire birthday atmosphere would be affected, so we essentially had no choice but to accept the fee. Initially, the restaurant planned to charge for three people, but later changed it to charge for two. The waitress who served us even said "I'm really sorry," which made me feel that even she knew that this handling of the matter was inappropriate, and the pricing lacked transparency. I completely understand that restaurants can charge a service fee for bringing in cakes, and I respect the restaurant's practice of protecting its dessert business. However, such a fee should be clearly stated before the customer delivers the cake, not brought up only when the customer has no easy way to refuse. Hopefully, restaurants will be able to explain their pricing policies in advance so that customers have a genuine right to know and a choice.

The service and lunch were very pleasant.

The Tuna sushi was amazing and so fresh, Thomas the waiter was absolutely FANTASTIC, so fast, kind, and charming. Spoke very good English as well. The mussels were very delicious, I recommend the seafood! We will definitely be requesting Thomas next time!

I went for oysters only. Was not disappointed. Fresh and delicious.
