Restaurant Au pont de l'Ill sur La Wantzenau

I frequent this restaurant regularly and have always been satisfied, which makes my recent experience all the more disappointing. On my last visit, I ordered a seafood platter with lobster. To my great surprise, the half-lobster that was served was extremely small, barely the size of a shrimp. For an establishment of this caliber, and considering the price, this is hard to understand. I should point out that the rest of the meal was fine, but this particular point clearly falls short of my expectations and the image I had of this restaurant.

The "Au Pont de l'ill" restaurant in La Wantzenau, specializing primarily in fish, is lauded as a "temple of fresh fish" in renowned restaurant guides for good reason! It's one of the top addresses in Alsace for fish lovers of all kinds! I last dined there on Valentine's Day and, as always, was extremely satisfied. That evening, I enjoyed the Valentine's Day menu created especially for the occasion, and it was delicious! Beautifully presented, as always! The selection of fresh seafood and fish dishes is almost unbeatable and will make any fish lover's heart beat faster. Meat dishes are also available on the menu. The restaurant is very busy on weekends. Due to the efficient layout of the rooms, the noise level is correspondingly higher, but this doesn't detract from the pleasant atmosphere. My only minor criticism concerns the restrooms. In my opinion, the size and number of cubicles are insufficient for the number of patrons. One small suggestion for improvement would be to check the restrooms more frequently to maintain hygiene. Nevertheless, we are and will remain big fans of the restaurant and will gladly return regularly – that's for sure!

The food is good. The service is a bit overwhelmed. We would have liked to have wine with the food.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal from start to finish. The chef was a master at cooking the fish; it was a real treat. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The staff is professional and friendly. I highly recommend it! The prices are quite reasonable and affordable considering the dishes offered (lots of seafood/fish), but the menu also caters to those who don't like seafood. See you soon! 😊
