A huge thank you to David for his hospitality, and to Alice for her delicious food! I had a wonderful time with my team. Everything was delicious. The decor is beautiful, the food is high quality and homemade. This is a place that deserves to be better known. Fantastic, well done!

Discovered Thursday evening as we were going to see a show at La Comète, which is right next door. The welcome was very friendly and we ate very well at reasonable prices. We were even able to eat early so we could go to the show afterwards. I recommend it!

Le Boivin is a gem to keep in your list of must-visit restaurants for a long time! We were welcomed as if we were old friends. The quality of the food is matched only by the warmth of the welcome. Special mention goes to the porcini and truffle ravioli and the pavlova. Be sure to book ahead, as word has spread in St E and it fills up very quickly. I can't wait to go back!

What a delightful surprise this restaurant was! The welcome is warm and expected. The simple, spontaneous hospitality is combined with elegance and refined manners. The owner and chef work together in perfect harmony. The menu features traditional, home-style dishes that tantalize the taste buds. I had the duck parmentier, and my partner Gérald enjoyed a delicious carrot velouté with a poached egg and grilled bacon, as well as a very tender filet mignon. A Lyon native on a jaunt, passing through Saint Etienne for the first time, I chose this restaurant, and I'm so glad I did. Delicious meal, from appetizer to dessert, including the wine. Warm and welcoming interior.

Jérémy is lovely, energetic, and always attentive, and Flora's cooking is delicious—home-style and traditional. The price is unbeatable; I highly recommend this charming little restaurant.

11/03/2026: I discovered this place quite by chance, and it was wonderful. Arriving early meant we had no problem getting a table. The owner is very friendly, always smiling, and helpful! The place has a real sense of ownership, with walls steeped in history, evident in photos and newspaper clippings. The food is simple yet generous and truly delicious. A €16 set menu with a starter, main course, and dessert is unheard of these days! In short, I had a great meal, chatted a bit with the owner, and had a lovely time. 🙂

Louise and her husband, with over 60 years of experience, embody the very soul of this place. It's a cult spot, a must-visit, where you can eat cheaply and the homemade fries are a real treat. It's a Saint-Étienne institution. 🫶🏻 Here, you don't come for the decor, but for the authenticity, the simplicity, and the human touch. A canteen for those who don't have much, but who want to eat and be well received. A place full of soul, profoundly welcoming. If you're looking for a little escape from this fast-paced world, I recommend going there. It's that simple.
