Très bon rapport qualité/prix, des plats excellents, une cuisine généreuse, à prix très corrects, peu d'attente, je recommande !

We stopped for one night on the way to Bordeaux and were very happy to have booked into this independent hotel, ideally located for a charming break in Aubazine. The room, although sober, offers all the comfort expected of a two-star hotel. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the atmosphere of the hotel and the village, authentic and warm, is worth a break to stroll around before hitting the road again. A big thank you to the hotel manager, who was kind enough to stay up late to welcome us and guide us to our room when we arrived at night. (PS: A short instruction video would have been enough to avoid bothering you so late.).

I can only give one star for the service, extremely slow, but it is in no way the fault of the staff, reduced to 2 people (what is the management thinking?!) one in the kitchen and one in the dining room, right in the month of August.
As for the menu, I highly recommend the house's frozen walnut soufflé.

Moderately pleasant experience, but we don't regret it either.
To put things in context, this is a 2 star hotel, with very few staff.
Let's start with the positive:
Very affordable price, magnificent setting (even ideal for weddings) with several magnificent panoramic views. If you get up early you can see the sun rising behind the hill. And in the evening, head west again for a beautiful sunset.
The village is very beautiful, the abbey and the monastery where Gabrielle Chanel grew up are worth visiting.
Exceptional little tea room next to the abbey, with divine homemade pastries.
The architecture of the village and the hotel are magnificent.
The server is really nice and does his job very well.
Breakfast, very good, plentiful, and inexpensive.
Quiet location, ceiling fan in the bedroom very nice.
Points to improve :
The food is just horrible, apart from the frozen walnut soufflé which is clearly artisanal, the rest is oily, greasy, tasteless, in short very poorly cooked and poorly cooked.
The monkfish has no taste and gives off water, the vegetables come out of the cans, guinea fowl sauce is sticky and disgusting, scallops tasteless...
On the other hand, the little ones' breaded chicken breasts (oily) were soft and quite good.
Aperitif level, little choice but enough and really inexpensive.
The room, almost in its original state, was moderately clean, with leftovers from previous guests.
Tapestry with lots of cobwebs, functional bathroom, cute, but hard not to get water everywhere in a bathtub without a shower curtain. No soap except for hands. Almost century-old shutters and windows that don't always close... there are also opaque and insulating curtains.

Hello, very nice surprise upon discovering this restaurant, made by chance. Excellent cuisine, beautiful, very warm decor (table for two a bit rikiki though). The waiter still manages to smile despite the frantic pace of service when the room is full. A 2nd server would be welcome. Original and refined card. A very beautiful memory. To recommend

Very nice discovery! I would even say that this restaurant is worthy of a gastro! The foie gras was really delicious and well served, I found the dishes excellent from starter to dessert.
I don't understand the negative reviews about this place.
