A Comedy Pipeline in Close Quarters. Since New Year’s Eve 1990, Le Nombril du Monde has treated comedy as material to be made, tested and sharpened in small rooms. Its resident troupe makes the process visible: performers may welcome the public, serve drinks, then step onto the stage. Courses added in 1995 extended the route into training, with Thierry Buenafuente shaping Lyon comedians and Florence Foresti its best-known early outcome. Selection also passes through audiences. In À vous de jouer !, artists presented short extracts, viewers voted and commented, and winners could enter the following season’s programme. Class, room, bar and audience sit close together here, so a comic idea can be tested in public and earn its place on the programme.

A small venue that offers great proximity to the stage...and therefore to the actors 🤩. Top-notch organization, warm and friendly atmosphere, and smiles all around!
