Overall, a very good experience. Impeccable service, with a superb sommelier and a very good selection of wines by the glass. The dishes were beautifully presented. The food was good, although I was expecting a little more. Admittedly, the menu description was enticing. I'll have to return to confirm.

The interior is cosy and tasteful, not overcrowded. Service was warm and friendly, we did not have to wait long for anything. The food was simply amazing, quite creative combinations executed well. Portions were good, and the suggestions for wine were most excellent. I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and I would love to return.

Excellent restaurant! Everything was perfect: the welcome, the service, the ambiance, and of course, the food. The menu is posted online in advance and includes vegetarian options. I also appreciated the ability to book directly on the website. There were four of us for lunch, and we all enjoyed every dish. The portion sizes were just right. Very good value for money.

You simply must eat here! The Essentials: The Restaurant-tastefully decorated, comfortable seating with tables spaced well apart, clean, quiet with appropriate music playing in the background. Service-hospitable, friendly, efficient Food-unique, successful flavour combinations , well prepared, tasty, and beautifully presented Add up these essentials and you have a memorable, and truly enjoyable meal. You can choose to eat in the centre of old Colmar to have “a meal” or you can choose to walk to this wonderful gem of a. restaurant to have an “Experience”. We know we made the right choice.

A wonderful discovery. The limited menu (3 starters, 3 main courses, 3 desserts) is a testament to the quality of the ingredients, which are all prepared on-site. The dishes were very flavorful and the portions generous. The wine pairings were excellent. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was top-notch. Dietary allergies were perfectly accommodated. Highly recommended.

L'Essentiel restaurant is located near the train station, very convenient for a stress-free lunch before catching your train. I was greeted by a friendly and welcoming young woman. As an amuse-bouche, I enjoyed a delicious chickpea mousse with cumin and orange. For my starter, I had a goat cheese and fig macaron (I loved it, but it was more of a starter than a dessert). My main course was a decent salmon with red lentils, coconut milk, and ginger. For dessert, I chose a succulent pear poached in black tea. Pleasant music (Brazilian?) played in the background at just the right volume. Besides the excellent food, you feel right at home in this restaurant. 🤗

A wonderful experience. Beautiful, generous, and well-presented dishes. The owner herself provided attentive service and managed the dining room perfectly, even though she was the only one serving. Highly recommended.
