A beautiful journey with the flavors of Brazil.

Lyon and Brazil have a long and passionate history. There were Cris, Juninho, Paquetá… but today, above all, there's the Sambahia restaurant. Located at the entrance to Vieux Lyon, the restaurant stands out completely from the rest of the neighborhood: a veritable journey to the beaches of Copacabana, with its sand, palm trees, and bikinis. But like the aforementioned players, Sambahia is top-notch. Whether it's the taste, which technically rivals Lucas Paquetá's, or the sheer quantity, there's nothing to criticize: it's substantial, so generous that even the imposing policeman Cris would have struggled to finish his plate. And how can we not mention the Rio de Janeiro-style kick they offer? Their chimichurri sauce hits you like a Juninho free kick. Financially, the restaurant follows the pricing policy of Rio's favelas, meaning extremely affordable prices. The three-course menu is €39, with the main course being an assortment of hand-cut meats, so generous that the plate is overflowing and the side dishes have to be served separately. It's hard to find better. This little slice of paradise, which immerses you in the Amazon, almost gives you the impression that you might spot a Marsupilami while you eat. As you can tell, I can only recommend Sambahia: it was a real gem, or as they say in Brazil, "uma paixonite."

A very enjoyable time in good company

We came to Sambahia for the first time for my birthday. I loved the feijoada, the rice, and the churrasco—they were all delicious. The little appetizers were also very good. For me, the experience felt like a blend of French cuisine and Brazilian hospitality. Thank you for the warm welcome; I think we were greeted by the owner, who was very pleasant and made us feel comfortable with our one-year-old baby. 😊 We'll be back!
