What an absolute gem. We stumbled across Zakuro after work and were lucky enough to get a table thanks to a little Japanese conversation at the door. Every dish was beautifully prepared and tasted like genuine Japanese home cooking rather than the usual sushi-focused menu. The kiriboshi daikon, nanbanzuke salmon, age-kakuni and agedashi sea bream were exceptional, and the miso soup was so comforting that my 11-year-old son declared we had to make it at home. We finished with handmade daifuku prepared by the obaasan in the kitchen—37 years after first trying anko in Japan as a teenager, I finally fell in love with it. A meal full of care, balance and authenticity. We left happy, inspired and already planning our next visit.

The menu has a limited selection, but the dishes are very well-balanced. The Age-kakuni of caramelized pork belly is tender, and the spices create a harmonious whole. A minor drawback was that there was more fat than meat, but this is debatable.
It's worth noting that none of the dishes contain MSG, which is a very good point!
The setting is reminiscent of a small Japanese izakaya bar, with a relaxed, pleasant, and quiet atmosphere. The restaurant can accommodate up to 13 people.
The restaurant is perfect for a dinner for two. Reservations are not accepted.
The only downside is that the menu is rather expensive. Expect to pay between €30 and €40 per person for an alcoholic drink and a main course, and €6 for a small bowl of rice.

This restaurant is so incredibly special. We brought my daughter here for her 15th birthday and everything was perfect: the food, the decor, the family that runs it, everything. We came again the next day for lunch. I would come to Paris just to come back here.

I ate Karaage de Thon and Daifuku (desert) with Haneya Sake. I can tell that it was the best Thon I’ve ever eaten. But they need to inform the waiters about what food and drinks are not available for that day (they serve daily-specialities also). The Le Plat and the Sake I ordered were not in their stock for that day and I had to change my order. I’m still super super happy with what I ate at the end because you feel like there is a food carnival in your mouth. However, this is more a constructive comment ;)

My son introduced me to this restaurant at lunchtime today. You have to go to experience the peaceful, welcoming atmosphere with its special attention to each customer. The dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients and the food is excellent. A very pleasant experience. Next time I visit my son, he already knows I want to go back.
