Here, high above the valleys of a magnificent wine region, paths converge, leading to natural beauty and a clear view of what truly matters, in the play of colors of all four seasons and in the cradle of security. The Hotel Saint Barnabé in the heart of Alsace offers all this. Thanks to its ideal location – the hotel is just a stone's throw from the Murbach Abbey – it's easy to embark on journeys of discovery, both within yourself and within the region and its riches. The Saint-Barnabé Hotel & Spa offers 27 charming and cozy rooms with plenty of finely tuned comfort. In the garden, directly on the banks of a romantic stream, contentment finds its way back into ourselves. Here, guests become aware that a spa is a place of relaxation, meditation, regeneration, and self-discovery. Water is also a key element in the rituals of our massages, which are inspired by oriental tradition. In the restaurant, warm hospitality and a magnificent knight's armor welcome guests. Was it a robber baron? Or a nobleman? It is the armor of a mounted warrior from the European Middle Ages, offering guests a sense of security. Although no guest is safe from the culinary magic of the Le Jardin des Saveurs restaurant, they are sure to be captivated by the culinary delights of the restaurant. With their highly creative cuisine, Chef David Rochel and his team offer the colorful flavors of the region. The menu, which changes seasonally, offers guests plenty of excitement and culinary delights from a vibrant region. For example, Munster cheese flambéed with Gewürztraminer pomace brandy and roasted pigeon by Monsieur Kieffer. Here, guests can discover a cuisine that exquisitely and with great sensitivity combines flavors and regional, down-to-earth specialties with fine produce from faraway lands. Eric Orban, a former Michelin-starred chef, and his wife Clémence, as owners of this refuge, set the tone with charm and warm hospitality, placing the highest value on healthy and environmentally conscious nutrition. Wherever possible, ingredients are carefully selected from local producers and always sourced fresh daily. Unmistakable: The chemistry between Orban and his chef is harmonious and cultivated with style and passion in everything they do. The team focuses on regional products and plenty of vegetables, but also plays with Asian specialties. Duck liver is typical of the region and forms the centerpiece of my chosen starter. Seductively enhanced with a fruit chutney and a Muscat jelly, the main course of beef fillet combines regional flavors with those of distant lands. Succulent, aromatic, and buttery tender with a subtle hint of Asian spices. It's a perfect showcase of meat. Nothing detracts from its inherent flavor. Delicately colorful vegetables with robust herbal essences from Alsace set the tone. Finally, please, let's have the legendary Munster cheese, flambéed with Gewürztraminer pomace brandy. Unusual, but... for me... a perfect conclusion to a concert of flavors.

01/06/2025: Magnificent location, beautiful terraces, green surroundings, and a landscape enhanced by the small pond facing the terraces. A truly sublime setting. Service was decent, friendly, and cheerful. As for the food, it was a total disappointment. Menu at €60 and nothing more. Bland starter despite the attention paid to presentation. Rossini was good quality, but disappointed with the sauce without any particular flavor, served with fries and salad. It's a shame it wasn't served with vegetables, because putting salad on a hot plate cooks it twice as fast. Assortment of cheeses was decent, simple. Dessert was a total disappointment; the presentation and taste were lacking. Coffee was flavorless, almost translucent once served. It looked like it was topped up with water or filter coffee. We came to discover it, but it's a shame the food doesn't match the restaurant's service, which is in a magnificent setting.

02/10/2024: Disappointing!!!! Shameful service! If you don't like your job, think about retraining!!! We have the impression that the sooner we left, the better off the waitresses were. During the meal we wanted some wine but given the lack of participation and attention from the incapable waitresses we had time to get rid of it (1/ Only 3 could be eaten out of the totality of 2 literally inedible dishes) A ​​pasty calzone like chewing gum and we don't talk about its filling or even less about the burata (even in supermarkets it is not as powdery and bad)🙄. The Milanese escalope which has probably been hanging around for a while, not to mention the pasta and a bland sauce like I've never seen before. We are going to pay not even an ounce of interest wondering if it was or other NOTHING!!!! However, the setting is magnificent and the boss adorable. Fortunately his intervention at the time of our departure took place. Attentive, kind and humorous boss. As a restaurant executive I would be ashamed to have such service and cuisine like that (I wonder what they eat during the staff meal before service) What a shame for his boss who honestly deserves everyone to ride on roulettes given his location and his person himself but his team does not give him any credit. Ps: the 3 stars are only for the support of this poor boss who deserves it for himself.

29/09/2024: Very good address! The welcome was warm, as was the service throughout the meal. The small room was lively, full of regulars and in good spirits. Delicious fried carp as desired, served with a good garlic sauce and a green salad. The recommended wine matched perfectly! We will come back with pleasure!
