15/09/2024: Traditional Alsatian restaurant, home cooking. We booked late for 16 people. To facilitate organization, we placed our order in advance (the day before). Our entire order was taken care of and served on time. Children and starters at the same time. And the rest followed perfectly. Our waitress was very nice and attentive to our requests. She gave us good advice on the wine. We ate well and had a good time.
14/09/2024: Another one of these special discoveries in Alsace. Tugged away in the sleepy hidden village of Widensolen, about 45 minutes by car from Freiburg the “Auberge du Moulin” serves excellent alcasien home cooked food as well as specialties, which come close to One Star cooking. And this is no surprise! The former Head-Chef of the “Schwarzer Adler” in the Kaiserstuhl, Germany - Anibal Strubinger, who used to be awarded there with one Michelin Star for many, many years and this wife, Dominique Gutleben, a chef in her own right, now run the kitchen in this lovely and peaceful Gasthaus since 2022. And so their menu reads like a who-is-who of the Alsacien and French classics: Duck Foie Gras, Snails, Pate en Croute, Tarte Flambee with different toppings, Calf’s head, Veal Cordon Bleu, Veal Kidneys, Breaded Escalope, Vintage Beef steak, Ducks Breast to name a few. In addition, you may order in advance baeckaoffa, paella, Chicken in Salt with trouffles and Trouffles puff pastry and much more. The wine list is excellent, their two daughters run the superb service and above all, the prices are more than reasonable. Wow! Make sure you reserve your table!
