20/06/2026: I feel compelled to leave a review after my experience, even before setting foot in this restaurant.
I called the restaurant and spoke to the owner, Christian Dupré. I was having trouble canceling my reservation on their website (there are cancellation fees if you don't cancel in time). I called on June 20th for a reservation on July 4th, 2026. Instead of helping me, he spoke to me in an extremely aggressive and disrespectful manner. He accused me of not receiving his emails and claimed I must be "someone who's constantly on their phone," even though he doesn't know me. After a particularly tense exchange, he hung up on me.
I then called back to ask him to resend the confirmation email. He did resend it, but I couldn't find it in my inbox or spam folder. A few moments later, he contacted me again to tell me that, because he had burned a dish while talking to me on the phone, he was going to charge me a cancellation fee.
Yet, my reservation was for July 4th, and I simply requested its cancellation on June 20th, two weeks in advance, in accordance with the cancellation policy on their website. I'm going to see if they charge me the cancellation fee on July 4th, in which case I may be able to take legal action.
I have never encountered such a lack of professionalism and respect from a restaurant owner. Whatever the situation, nothing justifies such an attitude towards a customer.
Food service isn't just about the quality of the food. The welcome and customer service are just as important. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I have no desire to try the cuisine or even set foot in this establishment again.

16/06/2026: Our meal plus the out of this world views, left an 80 year old disabled lady with a truly wonderful memory for the days my son and I spent in Provence.

14/11/2025: My husband and I weren't lucky enough to stay at the hotel as it was fully booked (you can understand why), however we made a point to go for dinner. Even with all the positive reviews, it was beyond what I could have hoped for! The hotel, grounds, and restaurant are pure magic. We received the warmest welcome upon our arrival, and had the opportunity to explore their garden with a glass of wine in hand. The food was fantastic and I hope to return soon for the full experience as a guest!
21/10/2025: We were there for dinner. The restaurant's setting was beautiful and the interior was romantic. We chose the three-course menu of the day: an interesting interpretation of southern French cuisine. The price, however, was high.

21/09/2024: Most unfriendly welcome from gruff manager who told us he was the proprietor. Never met a proprietor in the whole world who couldn’t have cared less no wonder only 12 persons in the restaurant. Wouldn’t let us eat outside because of weather even though we were happy to take risk.
Food really poor. Chablis was ok. Service unfriendly and unhelpful in that no attempt to speak Anglais..
We were here as a couple at end of June/early July and it was buzzy and food great. Maybe Autumn arrives very early in Menerbes 20th Sept.
15/09/2024: Wir kennen das Bistro le 5 seit 5 Jahren. Seitdem es einen neuen Besitzer hat (französische Kette?), ist es -mit Ausnahme der Einrichtung und des tollen Blicks- nicht mehr wieder zu erkennen. Die Qualität des Essens ist nur „okay“, für die Preise aber nicht akzeptabel. Ravioli Trüffel waren ungefüllte Nudeln mit viel zu viel Sahnesauce. Das feine, geschmacklich besondere, ist völlig abhanden gekommen. Der Salade César war ein „dahingeklatschtes Ensemble“. Gefragt, wie es uns geschmeckt hat, wurden wir nicht. Das Personal wirkt zusammengewürfelt und nicht der Location angemessen.
Außer zu einem Drink auf der Terrasse werden wir dort nicht mehr hingehen. Preis-Leistung für das Essen stimmt nicht.

10/05/2024: Excellent séjour de deux jours ( 8/10 mai 2024)
Les chambres sont parfaitement propres et très bien décorées , la suite familiale est top car deux chambres séparées par la salle de bains mais pour autant autonomes car possibilité de sortir par la terrasse ou la porte d’entrée.
La piscine est très agréable et bien entretenue.
Le restaurant était une vraie découverte gastronomique ! Magnifique ! Merci au chef
Tout le staff était adorable et à disposition
La dame de l’accueil est à l’écoute et réactive pour toutes les demandes .
Merci à l’équipe pour ce séjour
Nous reviendrons avec plaisir .
