Chez Jean Pierre
Vivario
27/05/2026: While camping at his son's place, Jean-Pierre took us to the family restaurant in the village.
The charcuterie was excellent, and the bruccio and mint omelet was a wonderful discovery. To finish, we enjoyed a chestnut cake and a small glass of homemade myrtle liqueur.
The owner gave us a very warm welcome. If you're ever in the area, don't hesitate to stop by.
04/05/2026: We stopped by chance on our way back to Ajaccio around 7:30 pm.
We received a wonderful welcome with roses 🌹
Jean-Pierre is warm and friendly.
We felt right at home; everything was perfect. Beautiful and delicious food.
We highly recommend Jean-Pierre!

Le Chalet
Vivario
10/06/2026: Really grumpy staff who don't bring a menu to the table when you sit down and they all look like they'd rather be elsewhere. Asked for a thé noir and was given Darjeeling (comparable to being given a Hot Chocolate when you've ordered a Coffee). Clearly somewhere for the locals as unless you speak perfect french they don't seem to want you there.
10/06/2026: Pastries were ok. Service was terrible. Would not recommend if you’re a tourist.

La Crèmerie
Vivario
22/05/2026: €16 for 2 teas and 2 coffees, advertised at €3.50 but we paid €4... apparently the prices have changed 😅
19/05/2026: On Monday, May 18th, I arrived in Bastia and decided to have breakfast in a small village, Vivario. I asked a woman at the establishment what they had for breakfast and if it was possible to have a cappuccino. Instead, a pain au chocolat accompanied my drink. Imagine my surprise when I arrived! They served me a café au lait! And I have no idea how old the pain au chocolat was, it was so shriveled. A word of advice to the owners: if you can't make what a customer asks for, it's not a big deal, just say so. As for the pastries, I'm speechless.
Then they complain about not having any customers! I didn't think to take a picture. But it's my fault; I should have refused the order.

monte d'oro
Vivario
15/10/2024: We made an unplanned stop at this hotel and had a very pleasant time there during our GR20! The landlady on the phone made our arrival much easier by having us picked up from the station (the hotel is 3km a little further up). Our triple room was a little dated in terms of decor but clean and spacious, we were able to benefit from the laundry and dryer service to wash our hiking clothes (big plus). The large living room, decorated in the style of an old mansion, is atypically charming, very comfortable and equipped with a stove, ideal for enjoying a warm aperitif! The restaurant menu is a little expensive but the dishes are well cooked and generous. Thank you for your welcome!
06/10/2024: Hotel in its original state, but it feels extremely good..we stayed 3 days following bad weather on the GR..
The manager and staff are very friendly, giving you good advice. Living room by the fireplace, generous and excellent cuisine, beautiful table.
A 20/20 for the cleanliness of the rooms.

Restaurant U Castellu
Vivario
21/09/2024: This place was perfect as a break from the GR20. The staff was very friendly and treated my bad French with good humour. Room was clean and restaurant was outstanding.
19/09/2024: The room is a little old and dusty but the service was really very good, especially since I arrived late after my GR20 stage and I was taken care of very well. I also had a buffet breakfast which was great with a good choice of foods.
Location-wise it’s a bit isolated.
