30/08/2026: It's a huge YES! 👏🏻 Having been regulars under the previous owner, we decided to give it another go.
It's a classic Marseilles pizza, made with cheese, anchovies, and a half-and-half topping, plus the added bonus of Italian sausage and mozzarella. Fresh ingredients, generous amounts of cheese (Emmental and mozzarella), and expertly cooked in a wood-fired oven make this place a serious contender and a real challenge to the established giants in the city, which is fantastic.
Special mention goes to the locally made pili pili, which is also excellent 🌶️❤️
We'll be back to try the rest of the menu.

12/09/2026: Lovely terrace and friendly service. The quality of the food was uneven: the pasta was good, but the pizzas had too much cheese, which overpowered the other ingredients and made them too greasy.
10/09/2026: Response to the owner of the pigeons, who are nonetheless from La Ciotat: you excel at shifting blame, I must admit! For your information, we were indeed exasperated at the end of the meal, as my father, a 78-year-old man suffering from lumbago, waited standing for fifteen minutes to pay his bill. As for me, I was experiencing the onset of heat-induced light eruption. Your bartender's complaint: he's "retired" is astounding. Just like your bad faith; you never smiled once, you were factually unpleasant and haughty. In contrast, the blonde waitress is lovely. Perhaps you should reflect on your own behavior instead of systematically responding to all your comments in a defensive and aggressive manner, instead of reversing roles and portraying yourself as the victim. Finally, my brother is in the industry, having studied to be a chef at the Bonneveine school; I was helping him in the dining room. Unless I'm mistaken, the fundamentals of this profession are quite simple: a smile, friendliness, respect, and a sense of service. Qualities that, unfortunately, you lack.
Their motto must be: "Every day, there's a sucker who gets up, you just have to catch them." There were three of us adults; however, we didn't order three children's menus! Seriously, four slices of potato and half a flank steak for 26 euros a plate! As for my father, half a plate of mussels and a handful of fries, the same as me. The brunette waitress with the shaved head was particularly unpleasant and pushy when taking our order, creating a feeling of discomfort. The man at the bar was disrespectful to the customers. Finally, 9 euros for dessert is simply outrageous; you're not a fine dining establishment.

21/08/2026: Excellent pizzeria! The pizzas are delicious and, above all, very generously topped: large, loaded with ingredients, and truly flavorful. You can tell the ingredients are high quality and they don't skimp on the portions!
The welcome, which seems to be from the owner, is also very pleasant and warm. It's really nice to have such friendly service. 😊
Even though it's only takeout, the experience is fantastic. A place I highly recommend!

The service is always courteous and friendly, even when the staff is busy. A great place for a good barbecue, I highly recommend it!

22/08/2026: They were on vacation without indicating it anywhere. We encountered a puzzled Asian man in the kitchen, who was apparently cooking a private meal and wondered what we were doing there. Very disappointing. Next time, please indicate it better, for example, with "Temporarily Closed" on Google Maps. Thank you.

28/09/2026: Chez Etienne is an institution, and there's always a queue outside, but we easily managed to get in for dinner, arriving shortly after opening. Right from the start, they made it clear: only cash is accepted, but no problem, there are ATMs nearby.
We were greeted by the mischievous yet extremely efficient Nasser, a colorful character who was always on the go and didn't miss the opportunity to gently tease my companion with the kind of cheeky banter that characterizes Marseillais in the collective imagination.
We were quickly seated with other customers at a table with a red checkered tablecloth (old-fashioned decor, of course). The place filled up very quickly, with a mix of regulars and tourists. On the wall, faded photos of the restaurant's history and the celebrities who have dined there. The noise level increased as the evening progressed. It's always packed, very noisy, and there's a crazy, joyful energy all around.
The oven is working at full blast, and the pizzas come out uniformly crispy (i.e., not just on the edges). The seasoning is perfect, with just the right amount of garlic and herbs. There are only two topping choices, but that's more than enough: cheese or anchovies, with the option of a half-and-half. Both are very good, but I have a slight preference for the lighter anchovy pizza.
It's worth noting, because it's not obvious: the pizzas aren't sold by "dish" but by "person." So, a "2-person" pizza is equivalent to two quarter pizzas per person for two people (which is one full pizza). It also seems that there are different pizza sizes depending on the number of people.
The salad is also very generous.
Next to us, our table neighbors ordered cuttlefish, which looked exquisite. The meat dishes also appeared to be of high quality.
Indeed, the restaurant isn't just a pizzeria; it also serves other dishes.
Despite the crowd outside and the quick service, we weren't rushed to pay the bill or clear the table. The staff is unpretentious but always very attentive and helpful.
Dining at Etienne's was a truly unique experience, well worth the trip.
