02/04/2026: A very pleasant stay at this hotel located in the center of Ambert. Room (10) is spacious with excellent bedding and a large bathroom.
Add to that a delicious restaurant and a warm welcome (despite what the naysayers might say).

10/04/2026: Since the management was transferred to the local council, the service has been disappointing. The pool temperatures have dropped, and the facility is closed for three weeks during the school holidays. Previously, it was closed for one week after the holidays. The jacuzzi temperature is supposed to be 31°C... Normally, it should be at least 36°C.
It's clear they're trying to cut costs.

14/03/2026: After a trip to Ambert.
Ordered a rare ribeye steak. It turned out to be very well-done... Acidic taste, no bad smell. I didn't say anything because I was polite.
I should have. Result: stomach ache, chills, nausea... in short, food poisoning.
My doctor confirmed my diagnosis.
12/12/2025: Never order a burger or steak frites. The burger bun is a Jacquet brand that's probably been sitting around for a week, the ground beef is overcooked (it's clearly mass-produced), and there's no Fourme d'Ambert cheese. The fries were way overcooked; luckily the beer tasted good. At €17, it's far too expensive.

03/03/2026: This hotel is a complete joke, a total rip-off!!
The managers are nice enough, but not very efficient… they either don't give you the right information or give it too late. The price is really expensive for what you get!!! First, they make you pay the full price, and then, after you've paid, they tell you that with dinner it's €12 less. Oh really? Excuse me? So I just paid more without dinner!? "Yes, yes, that's perfectly normal, that's how it is here!" they tell me. Oh well, thanks for the info since I just paid…
Then I have a list of things they need to improve, since it's a hotel that costs over €100 and breakfast is €14 with nothing more, or even less, than other hotels!!
For starters: A small trash can in the room. That would be the idea of the century!!! The shower is tiny, you can't be very strong!! Not enough electrical outlets…. Toaster tongs wouldn't hurt... real coffee worthy of the name, just like their so-called fruit juice... 14 bucks, seriously?! Okay, I'll spare you the details, the list goes on... And on top of that, they can't even be bothered to send you a proper invoice, just a cheap supermarket receipt!
This place is a complete disaster!!!
23/10/2025: Close to the town centre which hosts a popular and local market every Thursday with a regional flavour (seasonal fruits and vegetables, charcuterie, cheeses, poultry, dairy products, honey etc.)

Main course a disaster especially the meat not very knowledgeable the cook or he wants to win on that

The waitresses are overworked and poorly organized and nothing to worry about from customers.

04/06/2024: An incredible experience. Lost in the countryside, a chef and his team perform an extraordinary magic trick for an hour. Fresh products, daring recipes, and sophisticated trompe-l'oeil. Everything is excellent. Two appetizers, starter, main course, dessert, an extraordinary cannelé with coffee, and a small chocolate cake as a gift for the road. We didn't touch the alcohol, due to the road, but the cart invites you to taste it. Thank you for this moment of pure pleasure.

A friendly place with drinks at unbeatable prices. The owner is very friendly and always welcoming, and the waiter is top-notch: fast, smiling, and professional.
The atmosphere is even better thanks to regulars like Loup Blanc and Boboss, loyal customers with whom we've forged real bonds.
A place where you feel good and where you always enjoy coming back. I highly recommend it!
