We had a wonderful evening. Generous portions and top-notch service. A place to recommend, François is on top of his game. Don't come to Lille without stopping at this place! Just arrived at the train station, a short 15-minute walk away... I found this restaurant, highly recommended by the Google community... And it's absolutely right!! I thoroughly enjoyed some excellent mussels with Maroilles cheese, accompanied by very tasty and crispy homemade fries, all washed down with a Chimay amber beer... 🥳🥳 And the service was provided by a helpful and friendly young man, in a peaceful atmosphere. Thank you for this lovely meal and all the best!

Sometimes, you just crave a simple, tasty, and popular dish! Mussels and fries are a perfect example. Known to everyone, this dish is very popular. Unfortunately, it's quite common to be disappointed. Either by the mussels, which are sometimes cold, or by the fries, which often taste like they're from a factory. That's not the case here! We can only commend the quality of their preparation in a setting that, while admittedly rather ordinary, is served by a smiling and friendly staff. So, let's eat!

02/05/2026: I ordered the steak because it is said to be the signature dish, and it certainly is a style I’ve never seen before. They debone the steak with a knife and serve it like rib meat, preparing it right next to you as if it were a performance. The signature steak comes with French fries, a sauce that looks like vegetables simmered together—probably ratatouille—bread, and a small salad. The steak was unique, and the accompanying items were generous, so I really enjoyed the meal. I also ordered an asparagus dish as an appetizer, which was delicious as well. Best of all, the weather was nice, and it was great to eat outdoors in a great atmosphere. It seems like a good place to feel like you’re on a trip to France while enjoying wine and steak in the sunshine.
18/04/2026: A friendly and welcoming atmosphere in a typical old Lille building. Friendly staff and a tempting menu! The ingredients are fresh and the specialties are simply irresistible. The side dishes complement the main courses perfectly! As for the wines, the extensive list will delight wine lovers! Le Fossile is an institution that comes highly recommended!
