Au Bistrot Gourmand sur La Ferte-Saint-Aubin

A restaurant that lives up to its name: a truly gourmet bistro. The atmosphere and decor are typical of the French bistros we love, and it truly delivers on its promise of simple, excellent, and above all, homemade dishes. We tried the goat cheese mousse, light and flavorful; the Jargeau andouillette au gratin with homemade fries, a real treat; a perfect fish and chips that wasn't soaked in old frying oil; and for dessert, the Sologne-style cep mushroom with a medley of pear poached in wine, meringue, vanilla ice cream, and hot chocolate that left us wanting more. All this for a very reasonable price. During our next trip to the region, we'll definitely make another detour to this bistro of culinary delight.

Excellent meal, the added bonus was the very pleasant back terrace, the waiter was very friendly, and the portions were generous.

Deserves its 5 stars. My daughter and I went there on August 26th (2026), for lunch. We ate on the terrace, which was very pleasant. The service was impeccable, efficient, and friendly. The food is fantastic! Homemade fries, the meat was to die for (French origin), my daughter ordered the Caesar platter, a very popular choice, and she loved it! (A Caesar salad reimagined as a platter, an idea from Frank, the owner, who is also the chef). From the appetizer to the dessert, there was nothing to complain about, and honestly, it was all very high quality. We will definitely return, whether for a meal or just a drink. The atmosphere of this place is very family-friendly. You immediately feel comfortable and welcome. I highly recommend this place.

Very good and excellent value for money

A really great place. We were on our way back from vacation, and they were kind enough to welcome us and our two dogs (20 and 46 kg). The food was delicious; I had a burger and thoroughly enjoyed it, and the dessert (the porcini mushroom) was absolutely divine. The staff are lovely. Everything was perfect; a big thank you to them!

After reading the positive reviews, we decided to stop there for lunch. There were eight of us (four adults and four children), and we had lunch on the shaded terrace. A warm welcome, good food, and very reasonable prices. We highly recommend it!

Excellent meal. Generous portions. A very reasonable price considering it included: An aperitif, a delicious and generous main course, and ice cream. All this for two people and under €50. Just one small drawback: the table on the back terrace wasn't level 😜😜. Otherwise, absolutely perfect! 👌👌👌
