Beautiful setting for eating Madeleines and cakes. You do have to reserve at least 3 months in advance. You can, however, buy and view some items in the shop. Well worth a visit.

A lovely shop that's worth a visit. The madeleines are original and delicious.

There's a shop, awash in red, seemingly plucked from a garden window. An old-fashioned dollhouse where childhood memories nestle, sharing stories, tales, and legends while playing house, mouths watering. From the kitchen next door, the madeleines take flight, and then, fragrant with travels, they are invited to the tea table to share the magician's words.

A wonderful discovery! My partner gave me an assortment of madeleines for Valentine's Day, and they were simply amazing… without a doubt, the best madeleines I've ever eaten! The tea was also excellent. The shop has a very sweet and refined atmosphere, with a truly British ambiance that transports you to another world 🫖✨ A truly lovely experience that I highly recommend.

It goes beyond your conventional notion of a madeleine. They have about 10 standard varieties, with two additional varieties offered in the morning and afternoon. Each colorful and intricate madeleine had its own story-like concept. I think it was the male owner, and he carefully explained each one. Since it was French, I used a translation app to listen. However, my iPhone quickly froze up due to overload, so I could only understand about 20% of what he said. When I asked him to speak in English, he and the female assistant explained it again. Only a limited number of people are allowed inside this tiny, super cute shop at a time. There were six of us. Prices ranged from 3.8-6.8€ each. We bought a total of seven pieces and a bag of tea, for just under 50€. Locals seemed to buy them as gifts. The boxes they came in were all very cute. Of course, I originally went there to have tea, but the tea salon is fully booked three months in advance. I decided to wait in line to buy a madeleine just to get a feel for the atmosphere inside the shop. I'm really glad I did. It was an off-season afternoon, but we waited in line for nearly 30 minutes. I was amazed to try them and see how madeleines have evolved. Each one was richly fragrant, and topped with caramelized nuts and thin, designed candy-like pieces, making every bite a fun experience. By the way, I tried the blueberry, vanilla, and rose flavors first, and I liked the vanilla flavor the best because it looked pop and gorgeous, but the rose flavor was my favorite. What was interesting was the official Sherlock flavor, starring Cumberbatch. Apparently it's accented with Scotch whisky and other ingredients. Also, I couldn't hear it, but there was an official one from a perfume brand. I'm about to try one, so I'm looking forward to seeing what it tastes like.

I've been to Au Fond du Jardin several times and I never get tired of it! The place is cozy and truly pleasant; you immediately feel at ease. The staff is very welcoming and passionate. Everything is made with care, and each treat is a real delight. An address I wholeheartedly recommend in Strasbourg; I'll gladly return!

I have been coming for many years and am always so warmly welcomed and amazed by the decor…delicious madeleines and a truly dreamlike journey…I highly recommend it!

If you step through the door of this place, prepare to slip into a parallel world. You will be invited, by Fred, the owner of the place, on a journey through the world and through time. The pastries all have a story, the same goes for the teas, and the quality is there. We spent a moment out of time and the worries of everyday life.
