Auberge Des Segneurs sur Vence

We ate at the Auberge des Seigneurs et du Lion d’Or, at the entrance to old Vence, right next to the Place du Frêne. Upon arrival, the immense fireplace immediately catches the eye: meats roast over a wood fire right in front of the guests, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The dining room retains the charm of an old inn, with its exposed stone walls, large fireplace, and a few historical details such as a portrait of Marc Chagall hanging on the wall. The menu offers several house specialties, but spit-roasted meat is clearly the highlight. We chose the veal entrecôte with seasonal accompaniments: tender meat, perfectly cooked, and with a true smoky flavor. The portions are generous and the presentation is elegant. The welcome is friendly and the service professional. An excellent place to enjoy wood-fired meat in an atmosphere very different from the more traditional restaurants in the historic center of Vence.

If you're looking for delicious meat, look no further, this is the place. Special mention goes to the veal chop, which was absolutely amazing, and the homemade profiteroles (though without ice cream, a real treat). This rustic inn is run by a lovely family; I highly recommend it.

A truly beautiful place. We were a party of eight celebrating a birthday. The welcome was very warm. The cuisine was refined and generous, the staff efficient yet with a great sense of humor... Of course, we ate very well, as usual. The welcome is always top-notch, warm and friendly. The meat cooked over an open fire was excellent. I would, however, have one major complaint about the portion sizes. The portions were much more generous a few years ago. What a shame.

A very authentic and pretty place, the owner is very friendly, the meals are good, but the portions are ridiculously tiny!
