Aux Délices D'Amatxi sur Urrugne

I think there are some crazy people who write reviews! We were expecting to walk into "Fawlty Towers" and intrigued by the challenge...we were greeted as soon as we entered by a friendly guy smiling widely. Everything was fresh and well stocked and he was proud of his goods - rightly so! Nice coffee and croissants ate in and lovely bread and Basque gateaux to go. He didn't speak English, he's French and our French is poor...our problem, not his. They start early AM baking, if you're gonna turn up late in the day and expect a full range, that's a you problem and if you are concerned that your bread is still warm when you buy it, then you are definitely crazy!

Great choice and very pleasant staff

I'm stunned by some of the comments, which reflect nothing but bad faith or a desire to cause harm. Complaining that the bread is warm (yes, it sometimes comes straight from the oven; they haven't invented cold baking yet!), or that it's sometimes unavailable (yes, when it's really good, it's popular…), or even that the (lovely) waitress is unpleasant—it's beyond me! The baked goods sold here are exceptional: among the best croissants and pain au chocolat I've ever tasted. I even went back to the shop to express my satisfaction. And the bread is just as good as the service. Don't listen to these petty naysayers…

Delicious pastries and the server (boy with black hair) was so friendly and sweet to us, I have to come back for more
