Balsamique Restaurant sur Wambrechies

Hello. Second visit to Balsamic. We were disappointed. Minimalist menu. The servers, although friendly, seemed overwhelmed. No details about the dishes. We had a starter to share. It was okay (burrata) with the aperitif. However, the main course was disappointing: Minion steak and vegetables. The vegetables were waterlogged and covered in sauce. The water and sauce mixture didn't hold its shape on the plate. It wasn't appetizing. The Caesar salad was nothing like a Caesar salad: three baby gem lettuce leaves cut in half, one egg cut in half, and a few cherry tomatoes. €23 for the salad. A bit pricey for salad and an egg. They should really reconsider the name of this salad. This place also needs some tidying up. We were seated on the terrace next to an unkempt area. I think a trip to the dump is in order; the ambiance and appearance clearly warrant some attention. To finish, we had a double espresso. It tasted like a coffee infusion. Served in a tiny bowl. In short, we were disappointed with this meal.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent dessert! The flavors are delicate, the presentation elegant, and the portions generous. The texture is perfect, neither too sweet nor too heavy, and every bite is a true delight. The welcome is warm, the service quick, and the prices very reasonable. I highly recommend it and will gladly return!

Very nice restaurant with a motivated chef. The terrace is also very cozy in the summer. A top spot!

We chose the €42 set menu in the evening. The restaurant's ambiance was pleasant. The service was satisfactory (though a little slow). The starter was tasty. The main course was somewhat disappointing as the portion of fish was small and lacked any starchy side dish. It left us wanting more, as they say. It's a shame. The main course portion should be larger. The dessert was satisfactory.

A really nice surprise for an affordable lunch!

Hello, we tried Le Balsamique with the set lunch menu for €21. Very reasonable price and excellent value for money. The cuisine is refined and flavorful; it's good and simple. There's a real mastery of cooking the fish, which was excellent. We were disappointed by the lack of a sommelier to advise us, and the wines by the glass were unremarkable, which is a shame. I would describe the restaurant as good, without being gourmet. The starter was simple: fresh goat cheese topped with nuts and a parsley pesto. The service was very friendly, if a little rushed, with the waiter running around. The dessert was good, but also simple. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for its lunch menu. I haven't tried the dinner menu.

Overall, the value for money was disappointing, which is a shame. We tried the restaurant one evening and ordered a main course and dessert. I think I've rarely had such small portions, except perhaps at a fine dining establishment, but even then, it was served in five, six, or seven courses: a quarter of a chicken supreme, which was excellent, perfectly cooked, with a good sauce and a few meager vegetables as a garnish. Other diners ordered stuffed artichoke hearts (three stuffed artichoke hearts, and that's it—more like a starter than a main course... for €23 nonetheless!). The cheese was good, the dessert was okay, but we left feeling hungry and with a sense of waste.

A second visit to Le Balsamique, which I had very fond memories of. On the lovely shaded terrace, a very nice set menu for forty-two euros and an affordable wine list. Add to that an aperitif in one of the bistros/cafés along the Deûle river and a visit to the castle grounds! A truly wonderful time!

The amuse-bouches were a nice touch to start, as was the shared appetizer. The appetizer and dessert were fine, but I was very disappointed with the main courses. I ordered white fish with creamed corn and chorizo ​​oil, served with peas. The dish had no flavor and no interesting textures. It would have been more appropriate to serve it in a nursing home. The poultry and vegetables were simple but not up to the standards of fine dining. €100 for two people seems excessive when the meal isn't enjoyable from beginning to end. The service was impeccable. Everything was fine.
