This little place is really lovely. The people are welcoming, there's a good selection of dishes on offer, and the food is very good.

A lucky break for us when another hotel that we had booked for our overnight stay driving back to NL from Spain, cancelled our reservation and we were scrambling to find another accomodation. The hotel/restaurant is run by a lovely english family, who, to my ears, spoke very good French, no English accent detected!! 😄 The food was proper home cooked. The vol au vent was absolutely gorgeous, the filling full of flavour, which a lot of times in other places it is bland. Service is super friendly and professional. We had our desserts by the fire, which after a long drive and the cold snap made for a cozy setting. The room had a beautiful view over the lake, double aspect so very light. The heater in the room took the chill off and we had a very comfortable stay. Very dog friendly, lots of nature around to give her exercise after being couped up in the car all day. Too bad the council does not provide more bins in the area. We had a lovely stay and hope to make this a regular stop on our travels from Spain.

We stopped there for a meal. Very warm welcome, helpful staff, and excellent food. The view of the lake was lovely.

A warm welcome despite the late hour, a charming place.

A really nice atmosphere at this bar/restaurant on the shores of Lake Sagnat in Bessines-sur-Gartempe: sofa, wood-burning stove, mismatched tables and chairs, varied lighting... A very cozy place to go!! 😉
