Bar Tabac Restaurant Le Marcillac sur Espalion

We stopped at this little roadside restaurant, just before Espalion. It doesn't look like much, but it's very generous, serving traditional regional dishes, excellent homemade food at very affordable prices. The owners are super friendly. It's a must-try if you want to sample Aveyron cuisine and specialties: stuffed cabbage, farçous (a type of savory pancake), Aubrac beef... There's no menu, but they offer a complete daily set menu. A real treat for the taste buds and especially for your stomach! A word of advice: don't eat lunch beforehand, because the portions are substantial and filling. :-)

On the road to Aurillac, before Espalion, this tobacconist/restaurant is truly excellent. The owner cooks everything from scratch. You'll enjoy a delicious meal at a very reasonable price: starter, main course, and dessert for around twenty euros. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

We went there on August 6, 2026. The owner is very welcoming and friendly, the service was immediate, and he personally prepares the food using fresh, local specialties. You can see that he takes his work, his customers, and his cooking to heart. Thank you, Hervé (the owner), we will definitely return and highly recommend it!

The place to stop for a meal if you're traveling on the way to Aurillac. It's well worth the detour. The food is excellent. Hervé, the owner, makes his farcoux (a type of savory pancake) exceptionally well, and he also makes his own head cheese, which is incredibly delicious, just like the ones we remember from our childhood. He gets his meat from the local butcher. The Aubrac beef steak is cooked to perfection. The value for money is more than perfect. I highly recommend stopping by to discover Hervé's excellent cuisine.
