Boulangerie Pâtisserie Dardonville is exactly the kind of small French bakery that makes Fontainebleau feel quietly special. It is not flashy or over-designed, but the quality comes through in the basics: good bread, proper viennoiserie, and pastries that feel classic rather than gimmicky. The croissant and pain au chocolat are the obvious starting points — flaky, buttery, light, and very easy to eat with a coffee before walking around town or heading to the château.
What stood out to me is that Dardonville feels like a real neighbourhood bakery rather than a tourist stop. The baguettes are well regarded, but the sweeter items are worth looking at too, especially the tarte aux poires, éclairs, macarons, and canelés. It is the sort of place where you can buy one thing, then immediately regret not buying two or three more. Simple, affordable, very French, and a strong Fontainebleau stop if you like bakeries more than generic cafés.

Delicious, the wait is well worth it! A small bakery with a bit of a wait, but as soon as you arrive at the window you know it's worth it. Generous pastries, delicious viennoiseries!
Efficient and friendly staff

Excellent pastry shop, delicious macarons, canelés and éclairs, the best bakery in Fontainebleau without a doubt, but the friendliness could be improved depending on the person who serves you.

First time at this bakery. We wanted two cakes and asked what was in the "sunburst" cake. The server looked at us, sighed, and replied, "Well, pear." We asked for bread and if there were any other kinds... same thing. We didn't even bother ordering anything other than the baguette and left... we won't be back!

I have been a customer here for over 40 years and, above all, I have passed on this pleasure to my children who are delighted with this bakery-pastry shop; what can I say, everything is delicious and the service lives up to the standards of this well-known shop in our region. The only downside is that you have to be patient to be served, or you have to order in advance, otherwise you have to try to find a quieter time. But what would we do to taste their specialties, including the latest one, the Céleste tart, which melts the hearts of all the guests, and many others... A big BRAVO to this bakery-pastry shop.

This bakery is truly excellent; the products themselves—breads, pastries, cakes—are flawless.
However, there's a serious lack of management. By 8:30 a.m., they're already sold out of pastries, and by 6:00 p.m., the shop is empty, not even a single baguette left. Why close at 7:30 p.m. in that case?
It's a shame because we used to go there often, but now we're less and less inclined to go.

I think Dardonville is by far the best bakery in Fontainebleau, perhaps even in France!
After years of enjoying award-winning Parisian chefs' bakeries practicing astronomical prices together with some bakeries and pastry shops that are widely shared on social media, I have to say that Dardonville's viennoiseries remain the best I've ever tasted in France.
Dardonville's products have always a high quality, they are made with top-quality butter and ingredients, and are entirely handmade.
And the detail which makes all the difference. The viennoiseries and cakes don't come out of the oven once or twice a day to sit for long hours. They arrive continuously. Twenty pains au chocolat at a time together with 3-4 wonderful tarts together with nicely decorated strawberry cakes in different sizes. All will be sold in a few minutes. The rotation is very high at Dardonville and it guarantees the freshness of all products.
In short, you'll always get a warm, perfectly risen viennoiserie, and you'll appreciate the exceptional taste of an amazing butter.
We admire everything Dardonville proposes. As I said, it's undoubtedly the best bakery for me. You might probably be tasting the best pain au chocolat and croissant of France.
In conclusion, the price-quality ratio is truly exceptional. No price exaggeration on any article because you need to wait a bit to enter in especially on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday where there is the famous Fontainebleau market next-door.
Prices are slightly higher than the ones' selling without notice recooked frozen industrial viennoiseries or ordinary hand made ones without butter taste.
A huge thank you to this friendly, English-speaking sales team for their efficiency and speed.

I had to queue for about 10 minutes, this bakery seems to be a victim of its own success, but if you have the time to wait, it's really worth it!
