A lovely, pleasant terrace, the least noisy in Granvelle, perfect for a beer. In the evening, the restaurant is more upscale; expect to pay at least €60 per person for fairly refined cuisine.

A lovely discovery in Besançon We discovered this restaurant based on our bestfriend recommendation whose been living in Besançon for years and it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise to our summer holiday trip. The restaurant takes its name from 1802, the birth year of Victor Hugo, which adds an interesting historical touch to the experience. Located in the heart of the old town, not far from the Citadel, it is also surrounded by a beautiful city park, making the setting particularly enjoyable. The interior is elegant and charming, while the terrace under the trees is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal, especially during the summer. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we really appreciated that they kindly accommodated our request to dine with our cat. The food was another lovely surprise. Both the dishes and desserts were excellent, with good flavours and careful presentation. We honestly didn’t expect to be this impressed and were very happy with our choice. A beautiful setting, welcoming staff, and surprisingly delicious food — definitely a restaurant worth trying when visiting Besançon.

A very good experience at 1802 for a quiet and cool lunch in Granvelle. The dishes were carefully prepared, the wine list excellent, and the service impeccable. At €17 for the lunch special, I highly recommend it! Thank you for the warm welcome and congratulations to the whole team.
