Brasserie du Commerce sur Riom

A great place to enjoy local dishes made with regional products. The platter intended for two (cheese, charcuterie, crudités) was actually for four, and we couldn't finish it there. We asked them to pack it up! Draft beer, house wine, and calf's head were on the menu this week. The service was impeccable, and the staff were friendly. The terrace is a bonus, offering a lovely view of the facades and architecture of this small town.

It seems this brasserie has recently changed ownership. The food, classic brasserie fare, is good and the portions are generous. The staff is pleasant, although they seem a little unsure of their footing.

Very welcoming, very friendly waitress, very generous portions and everything served quickly (we arrived around noon). Excellent truffade 😋.

I didn't know this brasserie, a lovely discovery, a nice place and pleasant setting. I just had a drink there on market day, I'll definitely go back.

Excellent brasserie according to our most tried and tested and universal traditions, respectively a true and delicious traditional French cuisine, promoted by the establishment and it was about time in Riom (tired of all these intuitive, snobbish, fashionable cuisines which do not correspond to anything, not to mention ethnic, oriental, Asian cuisines or the artificial cuisine like American junk food, infamous McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, O'Tacos, a French chain born in the suburbs of Grenoble three decades ago and which is enjoying astonishing success today and which has nothing to do with Mexico, I have probably forgotten others..., the only honorable cuisine which deserves respect, because it has become universal like French cuisine, but a little less so, because it is a little less technical and complete, is Italian cuisine); On the other hand, there's a chef and owner of the establishment who stands out for his high level of professionalism, remarkable maturity for his age, considerable energy, well-honed skills, and a great deal of charisma, seriousness, and dedication. It's high time shoppers returned to downtown Riom and stopped haunting the cafes and restaurants of the ugly, ugly "Carrefour" shopping center on the outskirts of Riom-Sud. People go to the supermarket to do their grocery shopping, but they immediately leave once they've finished to have lunch or a drink elsewhere, preferably in our increasingly lifeless city centers. It is the great honor of traditional cafes, restaurants, and brasseries like the Brasserie du Commerce to resist both fleeting trends and the easy path, while remaining present in these city centers to breathe a little dynamism and life into them. But unfortunately, this kind of establishment is becoming increasingly rare; let us be glad to have at least one like this in Riom.

We booked a table for six on a Sunday, and the waitress and waiter who looked after us were fantastic, smiling and very kind. The food was very good and the portions were very generous.

The change of ownership is worth a visit. Quality food. Pleasant interaction.

There are still restaurants where you leave feeling happy. Brasserie du Commerce is one of them because of its good food, friendly staff, and reasonable prices!

Simple but very good food, friendly and quick service, I highly recommend this brasserie!
