During my visit to Brest, as I often do when traveling around France, I like to take the time to explore RPG and board game shops. Much like bookstores, these shops can be quite unique in their selection, their atmosphere, and especially the people who run them.
And I absolutely loved my visit to Croc Jeux.
This shop clearly stands out and is, for me, one of the best RPG and board game shops I've discovered in France. And I've visited quite a few: Nantes, Paris, Marseille, Rennes, Angers, Lyon, Caen, and now Brest… to name just a few of the major cities where I've taken the time to explore the shops.
It's not necessarily the place itself that's particularly original: you'll find the classic shop area, a back room dedicated to games, and so on. What really makes the difference is the person who runs it.
You can immediately tell he's a true enthusiast, someone who knows his products, their history, and the world of gaming. Above all, he knows how to share his enthusiasm. His advice is insightful, relevant, and tailored to your needs, without ever giving the impression that he's simply trying to sell you something.
In short, if you're passing through Brest and you enjoy RPGs or board games, this is definitely a shop I recommend you check out. You'll find great advice, passion, and who knows, maybe even that hidden gem you weren't even looking for!
During our visit, we actually left with two games that perfectly illustrate the quality of the advice we received.
Since I really enjoyed chase games, especially Letter to Whitechapel, an excellent asymmetrical game in which one player takes on the role of Jack the Ripper while the others play the police officers tasked with arresting him, the first game he recommended to me was The Beast.
It fits this type of game perfectly, but with a more dynamic and, above all, more varied approach: the Beast's origin and the way to counter it can change from one game to the next, completely refreshing the experience and potentially altering the outcome.
And then there's Fury of Dracula, an older and longer game that I was somewhat familiar with and had been looking for for a while. It's a more narrative-driven game, a sort of hybrid between two games I particularly love: Letter to Whitechapel and Eldritch Horror.
In short, that's what I really appreciated about Croc Jeux: they didn't just present us with the latest releases or trendy games. The discussion centered around our tastes, what we like to play, and what we were looking for, guiding us toward games that truly resonated with us.
For me, that's the whole difference between a shop that sells games and a shop run by a passionate person: the ability to listen, to share their experience and to unearth the little gem that, without their advice, might have completely gone under our radar.

The staff are attentive, help you find the perfect game, and even go the extra mile to let you try it before you buy it if they have the time. Amazing! 🤩
The back room where you can play games and eat/drink is great, and the staff there are always ready to help.
I highly recommend it given the wide selection of games and the number of activities offered by the shop.
