Authentic café, cozy atmosphere, friendly service

I came in for a drink, and the owner was very pleasant, and the setting idyllic. The postman's bicycle from "Welcome to the Sticks" and the framed photograph displayed inside added to the magic of rediscovering the film's fabulous setting.

After some searching and a few disappointments on the terraces in Bergues, we decided to give this simple terrace a try… Just for a good beer… We had a lovely time and all respect to that one guy who single-handedly served food and drinks at all the tables! Respect 👍

We stopped for lunch after buying delicious croissants at the nearby LEGROS bakery.

Originally C de la P was our coffee stop off en route Alsace! Our first visit, a very cold foggy winter Monday morning gave us the chance to enjoy the amazing Bergues Monday market! It was so cold we could have enjoyed the warm ambiance all morning! What a friendly local bar this is and the coffee is, well, rather good (and the beer too!). But there’s more! 5 years ago all the friendliness was around a place that was a little ordinary and, well, just local and cozy. New management (maybe new ownership) has transformed the experience inside and with all the outside tables it’s really the place to be in Bergues - yes, there’s a full menu at Berguenard but C de last P is a super cool little stop off or for a longer stay too - go - enjoy the improved range of snacks and very reasonably priced wines spirits and beers Originally, the “C de la P” was just a simple coffee stop on the road to Alsace! On our first visit—a frosty, foggy Monday morning in winter—we were lucky enough to enjoy the wonderful Bergues market. It was so cold that we could have happily spent the whole morning soaking up the warm atmosphere! It's a very friendly bar, popular with locals, where the coffee is—well—pretty good (as is the beer!). But that's not all! Five years ago, this conviviality was expressed in a rather ordinary setting; it was a warm place, certainly, but typically local and unpretentious. The new management (or perhaps the new owners) has transformed the interior. With its many tables on the terrace, it has become the place to be in Bergues. While "Berguenard" offers a full menu, "C de la P" remains a great spot, whether for a quick break or to linger longer. Go there to discover the new selection of snacks as well as wines, spirits and beers at very reasonable prices.

It's a shame that smoking is still allowed on terraces. This was perfect weather for sitting on a terrace, and it would have been nice to have something to eat and drink. But the stench of those cigarettes... ruined all appetite.
