18/03/2026: We arrived at this small café on the Bergues town square on a Sunday afternoon. There were two tables outside, but we decided to sit inside. At the bar, the manager and a waitress greeted us, but neither acknowledged my greeting. I thanked the other customer at the bar who did. We sat down at a small table in front of the bar. There were four people at the bar and a couple eating. The owner never looked at us, not even a glance; we were invisible. The waitress put away the chairs on her terrace but didn't look at us either. We sat for at least 15 minutes. My friend answered a few emails. And then we finally got up. Do you think the owner would have called us over and apologized? Not at all; she acted as if we weren't there. We've discovered a superpower: invisibility! So unless you're curious to see if you have a superpower too, just keep walking. Luckily, there are other cafes in Bergues.

08/03/2026: Very welcoming and crowded, but you can easily find a small table to share with the locals.

20/05/2026: The sun was still hiding a little, so I was the only one outside. Greenery, birds chirping ... lovely. For less than 20 euro I had tender chicken cutlets in a cheece sauce made with a local cheese. It was served with a salad, fries and some bread, which was a good full lunch for me. It was really tasty, especially for that price, the condiment for the fries was also really good. The service was also really friendly, made me feel at ease... Absolutely worth a visit, unbeatable price/quality ratio!

11/05/2026: The brasserie doesn't look like much, but the welcome and attentive service are excellent. I used to stop there for a snack after a walk. This time, I came for a delicious and beautifully presented meal. Very good service. Just...we would have liked a little more sauce with our fish. Highly recommended! 🥰

07/05/2026: We came for two gratins, a steak, and a kebab, as well as a children's meal with a torn box. The gratins lacked sauce, there was no choice of cheese except Gruyère, and the fries were undercooked. The staff at the chip shop didn't communicate well with each other; we were very disappointed!

26/04/2026: My son decided to treat me to a meal at a place we'd been to a few times before and where we loved the cozy atmosphere by the fireplace… no complaints about the grill… the waiters did their best… unfortunately, we won't be going back, appalled by the owner's condescension… everything had started off well… until the Maroilles cheese tart for a starter… charred on the bottom and top… I pointed out to the waitress that the tart was a little burnt, no matter how much… the bottom was soft, but still! 13 euros… I told her I hoped for at least some kind of gesture, without making a scene in the restaurant… a woman arrived… didn't introduce herself… said, ‘Oh yes, it's burnt! It's burnt! But you've already started on it!’… she offered us another slice of the same burnt tart… we told her it wasn't necessary, thinking she might offer a discount on the bill… no, NOT AT ALL… THE BILL FULL. Always polite, I took her aside from the other customers she was joking with while ignoring me… nothing doing… a shameless woman who looks down on you… to which I replied… it's a real shame. In the end, I should have put you on display in your restaurant, given your lack of business sense… I won't be fooled again!!!!
