Cafe Des Arts sur Penne-D'Agenais

Fantastically simple and beautiful lunch prepared by Carol, friendly service from Jean-Paul and lovely relaxed atmosphere. We would highly recommend!

Making a reservation at Cafe des Arts is our first priority when we arrive to this beautiful corner of France. I am not ashamed to admit that we had not one, not two but three bookings here over the space of two weeks this summer. You just need to take a walk through Penne d’Agenais and stumble across this picturesque cafe to see why. You will be lucky to get a table on the day so do say hello to Jean Paul and book ahead, or alternatively give the restaurant a call to make a reservation. They speak English and are patient when we try to make a reservation or order our food in our poorly put together French. The cafe is in the perfect setting in the heart of Penne d’Agenais, with a quaint terrace which overlooks the church. Jean Paul and Carole create a perfect ambiance which compliments the charm of Penne d’Agenais. They get everything right. Fantastic setting. Fantastic ambiance. Fantastic service. Fantastic food. I order L’assiette de Mr. Seguin every time, without fail; a hot goat cheese on grilled toast, honey, walnut kernels, bacon, lettuce, olive oil and apple cider vinegar. Simple, locally sourced, French produce brought together to make the best salad I’ve ever had. The only thing that gets me through the doom and gloom of winter is the thought of being at Cafe des Arts in the summer and sitting down to L’assiette de Mr. Seguin. Then there’s the cider too. A must. The coffee and of course the crepes. The crepe caramel and a coffee is the perfect end to the meal. Do treat yourself to some additional ice cream on top.

We stopped for lunch in this restaurant at the end of August after visiting this pretty village and we do not regret our choice! The boss was adorable and warm, really took care of us and the children. Cooking the way we like it: simple and delicious! Very pleasant shaded terrace in the heart of the village. It is not very big so don't hesitate to book in season. And bring check or cash because they don’t take credit cards. It was perfect, we had a great time, thank you again! We had a fantastic day in Penne D'Agenais today, we are so pleased to have found this wonderful eaterie. We have four children and JP and Carole ensured they all felt welcome and had a great time. JP gave us the warmest welcome I think I have ever received from a restauranteur! The food was delicious. We tried the savoury pancakes, I had a delicious mushroom omelette and then we treated ourselves with a selection of ice creams and sweet crepes. The prune crepe flambeed in Armagnac was so unique in its flavour, not too rich or too sweet. Beautiful. JP spoke to us in French and English, he even helped the children with spot the difference puzzle! We wish more English eateries would offer exactly what the Cafe Des Arts does: a great family friendly atmosphere, delicious fresh food and plenty of laughs. Thank you JP and Carole. TOP TIPS: you need cash or they accept cheques. Try the Belgium beer they have on draught! Cannot recommend this play enough. See you soon JP!

We have been trying to eat there during our holidays for years. Every time it was full/complete, but today it worked! We enjoyed the spaghetti carbonara and a delicious omelette with fromage. The owners work very hard to make all guests happy, with a chat, joke in all kinds of languages ​​and delicious dishes. Highly recommended! And next year, we will call in time to reserve a table and enjoy it again at Café des Arts!

Des crêpes et des salades faites maison le tout servi rapidement. On notera la sympathie des patrons qui fait de cette endroit une pause idéale dans le coeur historique de ce charmant village. Un fond de musique classique habille le tout et renforce l'ambiance paisible et accueillante de cet établissement. 35 ans de boutique et un vrai savoir faire qui transforme un simple déjeuner en un instant reposant et ressourçant.

Très bon accueil, bonne adresse, vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés, les salades et les crêpes sont très bonnes. Merci pour se bon moment.
