Magnificent museum; beautiful building, clean and bright interiors. A clear and well-organized layout in the permanent exhibition. Superb paintings, especially in the 19th and 20th-century sections. Pleasant presentation and well-adjusted lighting. A significant portion is devoted to contemporary art (the Cube section, the Chapel). Temporary exhibitions of varying quality. Easy access to cloakrooms and restrooms. Worth a regular visit.

What I enjoyed most about this visit was the diversity of the works and styles on display. You can move from one period to another and take the time to linger in front of the pieces that most capture your attention. I found the whole experience pleasant, with an atmosphere that truly allows you to take your time.

The art collection is great, as is the architecture. The 21st century collection is underwhelming and sometimes pretty stupid. Sadly there are no translations to english, all the descriptions are french only. Very fair price.

My mistake, I misread it; it's only open every day for the temporary exhibition. A dark room with black charcoal sculptures. You can sense the interesting work, but you can't see it. Why not? Temple-like sculptures placed on a luminous white down. Well... Fortunately, between the two rooms, in a corridor, are two magnificent paintings by Joan Mitchell to remind us that art is not a concept but a dazzling vision of creation. 👍

I was very impressed by the art here. The museum has paintings from medieval times (ground floor) and many works of all the famous artists upstairs. I found it a little confusing following the arrows but I think I didn't miss any of the rooms. A very worthwhile museum to spend a few hours in.

The building is magnificent, and the welcoming café offers good products. The educational facilities are also very interesting and allow even the youngest visitors to understand the exhibits well. However, there is still an entrance fee for art students if they are not from Nantes. The biggest problem I encountered concerns the information provided, and more specifically the labels. The print is much too small, making them very difficult to read. Sometimes you have to get very close, and sometimes that's simply impossible. Some titles are also hard to spot.

Amazing collection of art. The most striking aspect was how empty the museum was during our visit on a Saturday in August late morning and early afternoon. It was incredible to feel like the whole place was your own to wander as we pleased.
Highly recommend purchasing the Nantes city pass from tourist information for access to all the local sights and attractions.
