Taking the slow, pretty route from Bayonne into Spain we came across the delightful village of Ainhoa, listed as one of Les plus Beau Villages de France - and rightly so.
In need of a coffee we sat outside at Cafe Ezkurra, which is by the church, and enjoyed tasty coffee and friendly service.

A stop is necessary!!
What a pleasure to be welcomed with a smile and lots of humor! You have to try Bob's beer from Hasparren, the homemade cherry ice tea, the rhubarb juice.... If you ask for an orangina or a coke, it won't be too good!!! Lol

The quality of the products is fresh and homemade with the restaurant 🌟 next door, the atmosphere is very good with a team of 2 friendly and smiling little waitresses, and a manager who runs his terrace with a lot of humor, not hesitating to invest in all languages, good time to relax

Very surprised by the other reviews.
We have been going there for years, always very well received.
Obligatory stop to drink a coffee.
Recently the concept has changed, you can snack on very good products including an incredible and divine smoked sheep's cheese.
Special mention for the Basque cake which is just wonderful and made by the pastry chefs from the Ithurria restaurant.
Ps The Basque Cake is so good that in the photo half of it is missing 😁🤣

In the middle of the village square, with a friendly owner who is happy to have a quick chat and explain the small but excellent menu. The sheep's cheese was absolutely excellent.

Arrivée sur Ainhoa lors d’une randonnée, nous avons été très bien accueilli par le patron et son humour. Il nous a été servi deux types de tapas locales qui nous ont ravi et les bières primées qu’ils nous a conseillé nous ont parfaitement désaltérées.
Adresse à retenir lors de vos étapes pour un encas apéritif
