We ordered three appetizer platters to share, and they were very generous and delicious: homemade foie gras, crispy chicken, and calamari fritters—all homemade, absolutely amazing!!
All served with a smile!! The service and value for money were excellent, and the location is right by the river.
And thank you for welcoming dogs!
We'll be back on our next trip!

I agree with others before me. Location is great and staff is super friendly. Food was okay, but just for that I wouldn’t come back. It might be more of a “let’s grab a beer” place.

We went there for May Day, and the service was excellent, with friendly waiters and waitresses who offered great advice.
The Basque cuisine was refined and unpretentious, made with fresh, local ingredients. The chef and his wife are passionate and take the time to chat with you at the end of your meal.
We highly recommend this restaurant; thank you again for a wonderful experience.

Superb restaurant with a river view, quick service despite the crowd on the day of our visit, and very well-prepared dishes. The waiters/waitresses were excellent and very pleasant.
If you're passing through St. Jean Pied de Port, don't hesitate to stop by for lunch or dinner. Thank you to the whole team for this wonderful experience 🙏

I was there for lunch today. I'd seen a video where the owner made his own confit sausages, and when you see that, you can go there with your eyes closed. Of course, the sausages aren't made every day. When I made my reservation last week, I asked if the famous sausages would be available, and the owner told me they would be. So, this lunchtime, despite the sausages not being listed on the menu, my partner and I ordered exquisite, not-greasy sausages with a slightly spicy ratatouille, and for dessert, a strawberry tart with verbena ice cream, all for €55 for two. So, well done and thank you to Café Tipia!

In May, despite the rain, the restaurant was almost full. We came without a reservation. The food was excellent, but the prices reflect current trends. Expect to pay €30 for a starter and main course or main course and dessert. Truly local products, no shortcuts. The staff were friendly and welcoming. It must be less pleasant in the summer 😑

Passing through Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port yesterday, we had a reservation for two. When it came time to pay in cash, the waiter didn't give us our change. He even went to get the money from the counter and came back without giving anything to my partner, who told me about it while we were outside. He then pretended not to see her and went to serve someone else. As for their strawberry tart, the pastry base was so hard it was impossible to cut with a spoon and eat it.
