Chalet de Brou sur Bourg-En-Bresse

We've been to this restaurant twice in the last ten years, most recently three years ago. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has declined significantly. Our portion of Bresse chicken had considerably more bone than meat; while the chicken itself tasted good, the quality of the side dishes was rather average. There was no response to our complaint about the chicken, even though we clearly expressed our concerns in French. The price-performance ratio is therefore no longer acceptable. The excellent and friendly service and the wonderful ambiance with a direct view of the Brou Abbey can hardly compensate for the declining food quality. A real shame! Making a table reservation by email also failed. It only worked after a phone call. Incidentally, several new and supposedly quite good restaurants have opened on the same street in the last two to three years.

The meal was very good, the portions generous. The welcome was warm and the service excellent. The only problem, and it's a significant one, is the lack of air conditioning; it's very hot and not comfortable for eating and relaxing.

Excellent restaurant opposite the Brou monastery. Very good cuisine featuring local specialties. Bresse chicken with morels, quenelle with Nantua sauce... Very good, efficient and friendly service.

A true gastronomic journey overlooking the Brou Monastery! The Bresse Chicken AOP with cream sauce was exceptional: remarkably tender meat, a smooth and perfectly balanced sauce—you immediately understand why this poultry is considered the best in France. The presentation was elegant, the service warm and attentive, and the view of the Royal Monastery of Brou from the dining room is simply magnificent. A must-visit in Bourg-en-Bresse, I highly recommend it!

A wonderful experience. Delicious and original dishes (duck breast tartare, chicken liver pâté as a starter) and the famous Bresse chicken! Good dessert with a very good and beautiful chocolate fondant.
