Chateau de Montreuil sur Montreuil

Quite disappointing, unfortunately. Having booked well in advance for my mother's birthday, I honestly expected a slightly less rushed service. The welcome was indeed warm, with a lovely setting and a beautiful room set up for the occasion; the place is indeed ideal for a quiet family lunch or dinner. The staff is charming, but the meal, on the other hand, really fell short of all our expectations. During the aperitif, we were offered a single, insignificant savory biscuit per person to start... The starter was a bit too cold for some... The main course was really good but quite meager in terms of side dishes, such as a single, tiny potato with the tournedos and its excellent sauce. This really left us wanting more... As for dessert, the chocolate fondant was frankly undercooked... And what's more, I would have appreciated a small gesture for my mother; even a simple candle on her dessert would have made a difference. Too bad...we were hoping for better. Especially considering the relatively high bill... They really could have done better.
