Chez Fred sur Carcassonne

Very nice address in Carcassonne, we tasted an EXCELLENT homemade cassoulet in a simple and very friendly atmosphere. The accompanying wine was very good and the desserts very popular! Perfect evening, we recommend!

When visiting Carcassonne we stumbled across this restaurant, it had a large covered and quiet terrace. The waitress was very friendly and the food was more than delicious. After we had ordered we received an amuse (a little toast with a scrumptious tomato-basil sauce). Furthermore, the fish (both the tuna of the starter and the ‘pêche du jour’ of the main course) were really on point. Not to forget, the plates were really beautiful too. Nonetheless, it may be interesting to add a vegetarian/vegan option to the menu.

We had a reservation and chose the restaurant because there is a sign clearly stating that the restaurant is air conditioned. The air conditioning wasn't on and it was hot inside, so we were shown to a table on the patio. The atmosphere is really lacking on the terrace because it was very dark and we felt closed in. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke and sure enough, a smoker was sitting right next to us. We had to ask to be moved inside and it wasn't really great but there was no air conditioning. The food was ok but the foie gras was strange with layers of sausage which added nothing to the taste but made it harder to eat. No bread was served with the cheese dish but the waiters were busy getting people out for the start of a concert. We've now given this restaurant two chances to impress, but I guess that won't happen for us. RESPONSE to the owner: It is strange that you do not mention the lack of air conditioning in your comments. I will always have a smile on my face and I will make the best of any situation. I rated your restaurant 3 stars, which is right in the middle. I never said the food was terrible, but the foie gras was a little different from what I've experienced and I'm not used to having to cut it with a knife to eat it.

We came last night, we once again enjoyed the new summer menu, including a fabulous marbled foie gras with apples and chorizo..divine The service was impeccable, we took advantage of the terrace which was really pleasant Keep it up...I recommend and we will come back Well done

Very tasty and original cuisine (apart from the cassoulet which is made according to the rules of the art respecting tradition). The setting is nice and the service very pleasant and smiling 😊 I highly recommend this address!!!

June 27, 2024 What a joy to have once again tasted this new summer menu, each time with always succulent new offerings. Thanks to the owners, Pierre in the kitchen and Siham in the service who always delights us with his smile, his kindness and his advice. See you soon Back for the umpteenth time and still just as much fun. It’s nice to be recognized by the host of the place even if you come twice a year. What creativity with subtle mixtures. Thank you for us and see you soon August 2020 Two of us came for the 2nd time and no regrets. Incredibly good food, fresh produce, beautiful presentation, plentiful and excellent service for a very reasonable price. In short, an address not to be missed in Carcassonne.

A restaurant that deserves to be in the spotlight, exceptional, tasty, creative and above all seasonal cuisine with fresh products...in short, a real restaurant where you can enjoy a lot The service is also very good and very fair, in a rural setting on the terrace sheltered from noise or in the air-conditioned room The value for money is very good, far from the tourist traps. The food here is amazing. Absolutely delicious, and this is the first restaurant in France I've been to where it is actually marked on the menu what is GF and what is not. The waitress was excellent, and the chef even came out during one point of our meal to ask if everything tasted good. They even have GF bread. We ate on their outdoor patio. It was shaded and breezy and pleasant. An excellent meal. Highly recommended!

Hey Carcassonnais, you have an absolutely brilliant restaurant, with rich and inventive cuisine based on quality products and the genius of the chef, with pleasant and smiling service, with a more than nice setting, and all that, you go to side ? Oh yes, the prices are really very reasonable! So, do YOURSELF a favor, go and besiege this craftsman, and make him work, that's all he asks!! In any case, coming from the end of France, we come back as soon as we can!!!
