Restaurant La Marquiere sur Carcassonne

This is an unexpected delight in the heart of the medieval city of Carcassonne. We made last minute reservations and relied on the very kind staff for recommendations on plats, wine, and dessert. They didn’t steer us wrong. The cassoulet is exceptional. The wine recommendation was perfect with the plats we ordered. And, dessert was delightful. I would return to Carcassonne for this dining experience - it was truly delightful from start to finish.

Our visit to this restaurant was the icing on the cake to this magical walled city. We walked along the cobbled streets on a damp, drizzly evening which naturally added to the atmosphere of this fairy-tale town. We were welcomed to the restaurant where the service continued to be exemplary throughout the evening. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helped advise in wine choices. The restaurant was fairly busy for a wet Thursday night but you felt you had the whole place to yourself such was the layout of tables. The food was amazing from the first bite to the last! The lobster was divine, the sea-bass melted but the highlight of the meal was the dark chocolate sphere. What a delight and a spectacle to end the meal. The chocolate sauce carefully poured over the perfectly formed chocolate sphere containing biscuit, cream and cherries. The visual sensory spectacle continued into the eating of the dessert It was wonderful! Thank you to the staff for their hospitality and warm welcome.

The restaurant is lovely. I ate outside and is was beautiful and very comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious, from the skinless tomatoes with creamy burrata, to the cassoulet, and finally the trio of sorbets with cookies and a meringue kiss. I highly recommend this restaurant as it was recommended to me!

After a very successful first experience as a couple, we decided to come back with friends to allow them to discover this place where we enjoy delicious dishes served with a smile and in a pleasant atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed it and decided to come back.

Excellent experience! A refined cuisine while being very satisfying in quantity and in addition to the fact but we and the taste is found on the plate. The kindness of the staff is very appreciable! I highly recommend this address!
