My boyfriend and I booked a table Chez Max, because we wanted to try some traditional cuisine Lillois. We got seated in a cozy booth and started our meal with some small starters. We tried the rillettes de truite, some escargots and the oeuf mayonnaise. All the dishes were nice. As a main course my boyfriend went for the Welsh and I ordered the noix de Saint-Jacques de Boulogne. The Welsch was very cheese heavy, but that was to be expected. I found the noix de Saint-Jacques kind of small and not served warm enough, so it was a bit disappointing to me.
All in all we had a nice time Chez Max, but the starters were definitely better than the main course.

The food was delicious, and it was a cozy little place. The service could have been a bit better, as the waitress didn't come by once while we were eating to ask if everything was to our liking.
My apologies to the waitress, who probably asked in French if the food had been good, and I completely replied "non," assuming she was asking if we still wanted to eat our food. The food was just fine!

A typical and traditional dish from the north!
Nothing to add, simple and effective.
I highly recommend it if you want to have a pleasant time.
The only slightly downside was the noise level, which was a bit too high for my taste.

The waiter was very friendly and had only been there a short time.
The food was quite good, although it could have been served hotter. The price of the rib steak at €70... if it's beef, it's reasonable, but if it's pork... it's (very expensive).
But I'll have to go back to try other dishes.

We went there for a birthday celebration and the service was perfect, the waiter was friendly and we ate well. We will gladly return.

We had a wonderful evening; the Welsh rarebit and the carbonnade were delicious. My husband could have easily eaten a bit more carbonnade 😉. This allowed him to have the French toast... a real treat. Thank you for the warm welcome and service. Remember to book ahead.
