El Olivo sur Caen

Located in the Vaugueux district, a tourist magnet, this establishment is a little haven that escaped bombing in 1944. The houses are very typical of what existed before '44. And to my great surprise, I really enjoyed this restaurant; I'd even say it reconciled me with this neighborhood, which, as I mentioned, is a tourist trap. The service is truly impeccable, the waiters are friendly, and it's a really nice, quiet, yet welcoming place to relax. The place is beautifully decorated and quite spacious, remaining very calm even when busy. Parking is rather difficult, but since it's a touristy area, it's always a pleasant place to stroll and end up at this restaurant. It's located at the foot of the castle, on a pedestrian street.

€15 for Lustucru gnocchi... Vegetarian options need improvement...

We ate well there; the portions were large and generous. They had good quality meat dishes, as well as fries and salad on the side. It was really great for such a well-filled plate. I also recommend the desserts, which are truly excellent! The service was top-notch, professional, and helpful. In addition, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming; we had a very enjoyable meal.

El Olivo restaurant is located in the charming Vaugueux district, one of the most picturesque areas of Caen. Nestled at the foot of the castle, this historic neighborhood with its cobbled streets and old houses is now renowned for its many restaurants and lively terraces. It's a very pleasant place to dine, with a friendly atmosphere and plenty of enticing options. In fact, it was very difficult for us to choose a restaurant, as all the establishments in Vaugueux seemed equally appealing. The neighborhood is truly full of charm. We finally chose El Olivo, and I must say we made the right choice. The welcome from the owner himself was very warm. He asked us if we had been before; when I replied that we hadn't, we immediately sensed that he was paying particular attention to seating us at a table we would like, where we would feel comfortable… and that might even make us want to return. And he succeeded. Everything was excellent, the service impeccable, and the products of very high quality. It's exactly what I like; you can immediately taste the quality of the ingredients on your plate. A fantastic experience from start to finish. You can go there without hesitation.

The restaurant is ideally located and beautifully decorated. The welcome and service were very warm. A big thank you to Lukas and Cécilien for doing everything to ensure we had a wonderful time. As for the menu, there's something to please everyone. The cocktails and Irish coffee are excellent. The dishes are exquisite from appetizer to dessert (special mention for the French toast), with generous portions, beautifully presented, and reasonably priced. The children's menu delighted my little girl. We will definitely be back.

We were very pleased with our experience at this restaurant. We came to eat on Monday evening, February 23rd, and we were very satisfied with the dishes we were served.
