El Olivo sur Caen

Absolutely fantastic! ❤️ I'm so grateful to everyone who worked there this lunchtime. We came with two friends for a reunion, and our time at El Olivo made it a perfect day! 🌸 The value for money is incredible! The lunch menu—starter, main course, and dessert—was very generous! ✨ Everything is spotless, and everyone is so responsive, friendly, and so much more... You can go there without hesitation; I highly recommend it! 🧚‍♀️

We were greeted immediately by a very nice house manager and sat in a lovely sidewalk table under the awning. We each ordered a salad, both were ample in size and quite filing. I had a glass of the Boardeau & my husband a cherry coke. Bread arrived then we ordered our main course, his a ribeye steak and mine fish and chips. That’s were the evening fell apart. My fish was spoiled, and I decided to get a dessert of pavlova which was amazing. The house manager took of the fish dish and my dessert was compliments of the house. Fast forward, dinner complete. Time to use the restroom. The ladies room is locked no post upon the door as to why. A French gal steps past me into the men’s room, when she’s finished I go in. I come out to wash my hands and the sink is filled with soap and water like a communal bath. I opt not to use this and let the house manger know, he immediately goes to see about it and get someone to work on it. (Complaint #2) I ask him to cork the bottle of wine and also the still water we purchased and he begins to tell me he can’t do that because the water bottle has a return deposit, I say charge me your cost, again NO! Eventually with an attitude he corks both bottles gives us the bill and I ask to see the breakdown of what we are being charged- he aggressively explained to us, everything was correct. I then ask him, why such a change in attitude towards us? He says he is busy!! So I defend myself and let him know that there’s no need to mistreat me because I am an American and we are here spending a lot of money to which he didn’t object too! My point… for whatever reason France dislikes American tourists, unless we speak French properly and takes their crap! They have yet to learn we support their country in the trillions yet we receive no respect!

As loyal customers of this restaurant, we always return with pleasure. The welcome is friendly, the food is excellent, and the value for money is very good. See you soon!

I had a wonderful time at this establishment. The staff are kind and eager to please. I wanted to take home some butter that wasn't finished, and the waiter kindly gave me a box containing the rest. I highly recommend it! Cécilien is lovely and very attentive.

This restaurant is highly recommended. Our waiter, Lukas, was charming and attentive, and he also spoke perfect Spanish, so he gave us excellent advice on wines and dishes from the menu. The location is also very good, with views of the castle. They take care of every detail to make your evening more enjoyable. Thank you.
