Entre Lacs et Volcans sur Aydat

Visited as part of our GR30 trek holiday. Operated by a husband and wife couple, very friendly and knowledgeable - he shared a couple of good tips to improve our route the next day. Room was a family room for 4, a bit tight with a double bed and bunk bed inside but clean. Shower amenities very basic, could be improved. We dined there, had the truffade, which we loved. Clafouti for dessert, nothing to write home about - maybe try something else. Location is ok, nothing special really. Located 100m away from the lac de la Cassière - lovely on paper but it is a private lake and the locals will call the gendarmes if they spot you swimming in it… and finding a public spot by the lake was quite an undertaking. A nice stay overall. The only negative: they open at 5pm, but we got there much earlier than that. It was a scorching day and we would have loved to be offered at least a glass of cold water or a cold drink from the bar. We were told we could fill our bottles at the back from a hose though… small detail but on the day it felt like a miss.

Excellent stop on the GR trail. After a good day's hike, we received a very warm welcome. The room was perfectly clean and tastefully decorated. The bedding was high quality. The meal was excellent. The breakfast buffet was prepared with great care. Perfect.

We felt very comfortable at this establishment: the rooms were very inviting, and the evening meal and breakfast were excellent: homemade and very reasonably priced. We were a group of seven and had booked well in advance. A great place to stay. Thank you!
