Fasthotel Restaurant sur Grande-Synthe

It's pretty run-down. The mattress is rubbish and instead of a slatted frame, there's just a chipboard base. A restful sleep is only possible to a limited extent.

Good sleep, but the water tasted like chlorine

The room was around 50 GBP for the night, which compares well with other hotels in the area. If you go into this with the expectation "you get what you pay for" you won't be disappointed. The hotel could do with a bit of TLC, true - more than a bit, actually - but it does what you'd expect: a clean bed, a hot shower, and a night's sleep. And it's away from the towns, so you can expect your car, bike, van, whatever, to still be there the next morning. The customer service was great: I got an email telling me what room I'd have, and where to find the key, and also the gate/door entry codes. I checked in, slept, and checked out the following morning without seeing anyone. If you want a spa, fresh coffee, robe and slippers in the bathroom, then this isn't the place. If you just want a place to crash on the journey home, then Fasthotel Dunkirk - minutes from the main E40 - is ideal. Set your expectation, and you'll be fine.

Rooms and towels are dirty, unwashed, windows aren't working properly. There's no hair dryer and we found someone elses hair in the bathroom. The light is criminal . This hotel gives no sense. The "bed frame" is actually just a desk, a coffee table.

For the driver and shuttle between the airport and the truck on the way to the Islands, there is no better location.

A hotel with good value for money. Dinner and breakfast are available.

The host was excellent, very good value for money. The staff were extremely kind.
