Fer A Cheval sur Roubaix

Having come to dinner alone, I felt a bit forgotten. Served after everyone else, I waited over half an hour for a simple steak tartare… Since we paid with the code on the table, there was no interaction…

Welcome to Le Fer à Cheval, a culinary institution in Parc Barbieux for 50 years! It's safe to say this restaurant has a long history! Located at the far end of Parc Barbieux, not far from the metro stop of the same name, Le Fer à Cheval has plenty to offer to attract your attention. The establishment has several parking spaces, including charging stations for electric vehicles, as well as a large terrace to enjoy on sunny days. While its location might be considered less "natural" than that of Beau Jardin across the street, this is a definite plus for enjoying the summer. Inside, you'll find a warm and cozy atmosphere, where you'll be welcomed by a friendly and efficient team. The rustic ambiance and charm of the place are truly appreciated. As for the menu, it's excellent, especially for meat lovers. Besides rib-eye steaks, T-bone steaks, flank steaks, and other rump steaks, you'll find traditional dishes like Welsh rarebit (with or without), Potjevleesch, and veal kidneys. There are also a few fish and salad options for those who don't eat meat. All of this can be enjoyed with a glass of rum or a cocktail, of course. Finally, there's a particularly refined dessert menu, from the traditional mille-feuille (which we highly recommend) to profiteroles and the nectarine Tropézienne! The bill isn't exactly cheap, expect to pay around 50 euros per person, but the quality is undeniable, and the place has the charm to justify the price. A lovely restaurant to discover before (or after) a stroll through the beautiful Barbieux Park.

The welcome and service were impeccable. The food and cooking were top-notch. Only the acoustics were a little tiring. We will gladly return.
