We love this restaurant! It outshines everything offering sit-down food in the heart of La Châtre. I hope we have aged & matured as well as the owners. I note that the next generation is just as quietly confident of the establishment- and accommodating of our poor French. The food is as intetesting as the décor; surely better than any tourist agency for making us want to visit Alcace one day! We look forward to our next visit and Fredy's extraordinary puddings etc.

A superb discovery. A warm welcome, attentive staff. Superb Alsatian cuisine. I recommend the shanks in beer sauce. I look forward to returning.

Brasserie with atypical Alsatian decoration. There is choice on the menu. Correct price/quality ratio (but nothing more). Lots of people when we came, the place seems to be known in the area. On the other hand, the boss is not called Fredy

L'escargot

06/01/2026: We went to lunch at L'Escargot this Sunday and it was fantastic from start to finish. Excellent service, all the dishes were excellent, and the wine was excellent. Highly recommended.
29/12/2025: Very nice restaurant. Refined cuisine. Except the sweetbreads were overcooked. They might not be apples. Pleasant staff.

L'Instant Goû'Thé

19/09/2025: Great tea room. I never miss a snack break there when I'm in La Châtre. The cakes are excellent, the shop is full of good products, and the welcome is top-notch. I recommend it.
