Grain de Vanille sur Cancale

10/05/2026: We had lunch together at this small seafood restaurant in Cancale. The service was adequate and the staff pleasant. My partner ordered mussels marinière. They were good, but really small for the price. At the end of the meal, when I mentioned this, I was told they were rope-grown mussels and that these were the only ones available before the season starts in July. This is understandable, but it might have been helpful to mention this when ordering to avoid disappointment. I opted for an omelet, which is listed on the menu without any sides or salad. When I ordered, the waiter had informed me of this and offered to add bacon and cheese for a small extra €0.80, which was a nice touch. The wines we ordered were good. Overall, it wasn't exceptional, but it's still a decent place for a simple lunch.
