We tried this restaurant on August 5th as a family. We had excellent memories of it from four years ago, but unfortunately, we were disappointed with the overall experience this time. The setting is certainly pleasant, but it doesn't compensate for the cold service and the disappointing food: bland cocktails, salmon as a starter served with an unseasoned salad, duck breasts ordered pink but overcooked, and undercooked potatoes as a side dish. And finally, a crème brûlée that wasn't set enough, to give you some concrete examples... In short, you pay a lot for a setting that is admittedly very pretty but for disappointing dishes. Other establishments in the area are much better!

A very charming place in a secluded and sumptuous courtyard. At the entrance, we saw a "Maître Restaurateur" plaque, which reassured us. A very intimate moment in this lovely setting, but the Parmentier was, by all accounts, very dry duck, and the Périgord salad was nothing special. The service was very good.

Upon arriving in Sarlat, we strolled through the narrow streets looking for a restaurant for lunch and stumbled upon this lovely entrance and a menu that immediately caught our eye: a €26 set menu with a starter, two main courses of our choice, and dessert, along with a beautiful plaque from Maître Restaurateur. After passing through the entrance, we discovered a lovely, pleasant terrace, away from the tourists, nestled in the heart of the narrow streets. We thought we had found a real gem and a promising menu. At 12:40, we received a very warm welcome. After consulting the aperitif menu (yes, we're on vacation, we should treat ourselves!), we ordered, and that's when the disappointment hit. We were told they were out of duck shepherd's pie and offered no alternative dish—not very customer-friendly (I remind you, they're a Master Restaurateur!). To get the €26 set menu, we had to choose the penne with three cheeses and porcini mushroom sauce (very good, but quite ordinary). It was getting late, and we didn't feel like looking for another restaurant. It was 13:15. After eating our starter and asking for our main course (yes, we had to ask!), it was already 14:15, and we were finally able to enjoy the pasta. But rest assured, dessert didn't keep us waiting, as we were among the last customers in the restaurant. It was 14:50, and we paid the bill, but there was no gesture of goodwill either. We don't mean to sound like difficult customers, but we simply wanted to share our experience. You have a very nice establishment with very welcoming staff in a magnificent building. Therefore, I hope you understand our dissatisfaction after being welcomed at 12:40 and leaving at 2:50. Thank you kindly.

The food was uninspiring: a poorly seasoned Périgord salad, confit served with ordinary potatoes, and to top it all off, pigeon that defecated on my plate. The staff were apologetic, but the owner seemed to find it amusing… in short, the setting is nice, that's all.

Excellent truffle restaurant. The dishes are truly of excellent quality. Lovely little courtyard tucked away from the main roads. Very pretty setting. Very welcoming and friendly staff.

An unforgettable experience! Excellent cuisine: the truffle menu was exquisite, the truffle flavor was perfectly present without overpowering the other ingredients. The vegetables were succulent! The duck breast with honey sauce was a delight! The waiters were incredibly attentive. It was as if they could read our minds! They were dedicated to customer service, offering suggestions without being pushy! The service was very affordable and worthy of top restaurants! Absolutely nothing to complain about! The atmosphere was fantastic—a wonderful escape from the everyday in a sumptuous setting, surrounded by discreet and pleasant guests! Thank you for the wonderful evening! A must-try if you're in Sarlat! And the price is more than reasonable!

21/08/2026: We were strolling down a small alley looking for a restaurant for dinner when a woman approached us and showed us the menu. She began by explaining that their products were French and that it wasn't a tourist trap with EU-sourced goods like some of their competitors. She then invited us to explore the courtyard where the tables were set up. We did, and, I must admit, the setting was quite pleasant. So we decided to sit down. The menu is fairly similar to those of other restaurants in the area, with a good selection of local products, which is exactly what we were looking for. As for the food, it was decent overall, but not exceptional. We enjoyed some dishes, others much less so, and unfortunately, we weren't truly won over. A minor drawback was the service: we had to ask five times for a simple carafe of water before finally getting it… And above all, be careful when the bill arrives. Two set menus are offered, one at €26 and some change, and the other at €34 and some change. We ordered one of each, but we were ultimately charged for two €34 menus. Looking more closely at the menu, we also noticed that some dishes were included in both (in our case: salad, duck confit, walnut cake…). Unfortunately, we realized this too late to point it out while we were there. It's a shame, because I think we ended up in a typical tourist trap. In the end, with this mistake on the menus, the bill seemed particularly steep: €150 for 2 adults and 2 children. We were therefore expecting better value for money. A rather mixed experience: a pleasant setting, a commitment to local produce, but food that didn't particularly impress us, a few service issues, and above all, a bill that left a slightly bitter taste. If you decide to go, be sure to check your bill carefully before paying.
21/08/2026: An unexpected stop, but not disappointed! The dishes were delicious, beautifully presented, generous portions, and served promptly. The staff was very welcoming and friendly throughout the meal. Special mention for the magnificent terrace, which offers a perfect and unique setting. We loved it! A great place that we highly recommend. P.S.: Grumpy people and self-proclaimed food critics, move along or just relax for 5 minutes and enjoy!
