MARSEILLAN - Îles et Thé une Fois, a story of love and flavors in Marseillan
Îles et Thé une Fois, a story of love and flavors in Marseillan
Once upon a time, there was a rice salad from elsewhere, world cuisine, and a sunny terrace in the heart of Marseillan. Welcome to Îles et Thé une Fois, an establishment where fresh produce and a friendly atmosphere are the watchwords. Behind this unique place are Thierry and Marie, a passionate duo who transformed a love affair with Marseillan into an unforgettable culinary adventure.
Love at first sight for Marseillan
It all began about twenty years ago, when Thierry and Marie, then restaurateurs in Montpellier, discovered the Domaine de la Madeleine Saint-Jean, a wine that led them straight to Marseillan. Seduced by the village's charm, they bought a small house there for weekends, far from the hustle and bustle of their two restaurants in town. But the call of Marseillan was too strong: they sold everything, settled permanently, and opened Îles et Thé une Fois twelve years ago. A name that sums it all up: their love of the islands and their history as a teahouse.
World cuisine, a warm atmosphere
Here, you travel without leaving your table. Thailand, Bali, Reunion Island, Morocco... The menu is a whirlwind of flavors, with dishes that evolve with the seasons. Marie excels at local recipes, like her famous Auvergne pâté, while Thierry delights with his Thai curries and ramen. Regulars, both local and foreign, flock to taste their specialties: Bali salad, lamb tagine, or duck confit lasagna. And as Thierry points out with a smile: "We even have customers who come almost every day. They're like our second family."
A Delicious Lifestyle
After years of working tirelessly, Thierry and Marie have chosen a more relaxed pace: open only for lunch (and closed on Sundays, much to the dismay of foodies), the establishment allows them to combine work and pleasure. "We close for three months in the winter to travel and recharge our batteries," says Marie. This philosophy is reflected in the relaxed and cheerful atmosphere of the place, where customers quickly become friends.
Exotic Decor and Small Pleasures
Between the surfboards hanging on the wall, the Tahitian beers, and the Bora Bora-inspired decor, Îles et Thé une Fois is a true haven of escape. "It's all in the title: we love the islands, and it shows!" laughs Thierry. Even the iced teas and homemade drinks, like the lemon-ginger, transport the taste buds elsewhere.
A Marseillan staple
Today, Thierry and Marie are part of the Marseille scene. We run into them at local parties, share anecdotes over drinks, and above all, we come back for their generous cuisine. "This is our last professional adventure, and we want it to remain a pleasure," they conclude. Mission accomplished: here, every meal is a celebration!
