A very friendly Japanese restaurant; the staff are welcoming and helpful, as we chatted with them at the end of our meal. I highly recommend the yakitori skewers, which are the best we've had in Lyon so far. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food. We will definitely return to support these small businesses that offer such good food.

Excellent as usual! Sushi, sashimi, and skewers grilled over a flame right in front of you. And above all, excellent value for money! You won't be disappointed...in 20 years in Lyon, I haven't found a Japanese restaurant this delicious. And thank you to the second generation of owners, who are still as friendly and kind as ever! Bravo!

The food was excellent, the skewers were superb!! Having menu options with both sushi and skewers was perfect for someone as indecisive as me 😄 The service was continuous, giving us plenty of time to finish our soup and salad! The place was calm and pleasant. I highly recommend it :)

Small restaurant, but that doesn't detract from the quality of the food. I thoroughly enjoyed it. In the end, you can easily imagine yourself in Japan in this kind of restaurant 😊

The food is good, but the service is a bit slow. I never received my main course because I was forgotten. And we ate at different times, watching others eat, because the dishes arrived somewhat randomly. In any case, what I did manage to eat was good. The desserts are also excellent.

26/07/2026: If you're looking to experience authentic Japanese flavors (dishes, beers, appetizers, sake, etc.) in a relaxed setting far removed from the ostentatious displays of typical Japanese restaurants, then come to La Cantine Japonaise. As for the food, the pork gyoza are delicious, the tori no karaage (tender salad) is excellent, and the katsu-don and ebiten curry udon are also great. I didn't get a chance to try the matcha and dark chocolate cookies, but the mochi ice cream and the green tea/yuzu ice cream are perfect for dessert. A wonderful and unique spot in Lyon!

13/08/2026: The value for money is excellent! For €12.50, the lunch menu is really generous: soup, salad, 6 maki rolls, and rice... The portions are substantial, the welcome is warm and friendly, with a lovely terrace and even a free biscuit at the end. I highly recommend it! 😊
