THE MOST AUTHENTIC, INCREDIBLE FRENCH FOOD!!! My husband and I had the most exquisite 3 course meal today. Every single part of the meal was so delicious, all cooked with beautiful, fresh produce. The food was perfectly cooked, served and presented. The whole experience was divine and this place is such a hidden gem! Also the wait stuff are just wonderful! You will not regret going here ✨😍✨

If my aunt Mathilda had been there she would have said “Oh, do stop whatever you’re doing and book a table at Le Bistrot du Grand Mère. Yes, it’s up a hill. Yes, you’ll briefly question your life choices on the way up. But by the time you’ve taken the first bite, you’ll realise the climb was merely the restaurant’s way of ensuring you’ve earned your lunch. The food? Positively scandalous. The daube and the beef cheek were so meltingly tender I suspect there was witchcraft involved. Honestly, if my family cooked meat like that, I’d have spoken to them years ago. And the lemon meringue tart? Good Lord. Tart enough to keep things interesting, sweet enough to make you forgive your ex, with a cloud of meringue that should frankly have its own fan club. The service deserves a standing ovation. The staff were attentive without performing that irritating dance where someone asks if everything’s alright just as you’ve stuffed half a potato into your mouth. They appeared exactly when needed, vanished when not, and made the whole experience feel effortlessly elegant. Le Bistrot du Grand Mère is the sort of place that reminds you why the French are so insufferably smug about their food. Quite right too. Worth the climb, worth every euro, and worth loosening your waistband for. Five stars. I’d march back up that hill tomorrow, although preferably after a little lie down.”

This was the best meal I've had in France... The duck confit was so layered, with the sweetness of cherries, a hint of olive, and the refreshing sweetness of onions. If you dip it in the sauce with bread, you can even taste a subtle hint of wine... A very satisfying and delicious meal. Remember they might close around 4 PM, so try to eat there during lunchtime or dinnertime.

The staff are very friendly and the food is simply delicious! We felt like we were at our grandma's house, or even better!

The food is delicious. Traditional French cuisine, very well prepared. I ordered onion soup as a starter, which was excellent. I would also like to express my immense gratitude to the restaurant staff for fulfilling my request for a starter followed by a main course, even though the kitchen was about to close. They were very attentive and kind. The place is unpretentious, very different from the restaurants in the more touristy area of ​​Cannes, but it's located in one of the most pleasant places I've seen in the city: a lovely little square at the foot of the castle.
