I had the pleasure of discovering La Brouette restaurant, located in a charming family country house in Vence. The atmosphere is warm and authentic, perfectly in keeping with the rural setting. We had lunch in the garden, enjoying a remarkable view of Saint-Paul-de-Vence. This peaceful setting greatly contributed to the quality of the experience. The Danish-inspired cuisine was refined and delicious. The wood-fired trout was exceptional: perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful, it is clearly a highlight of the menu. The owner was particularly attentive. His welcome was very kind, enhanced by a subtle and pleasant sense of humor that made the experience even more convivial. He was also aware of the criticisms in some reviews and clearly stated his intention to make the necessary improvements, which demonstrates a true sense of professionalism and service. I highly recommend La Brouette for an experience combining a rural setting, quality cuisine and a warm welcome.

A truly wonderful experience! The tasting menu was exceptional! An original house aperitif, four delicious Danish starters (we loved the gravlax salmon with the dill cream), the wood-smoked trout with its unique little ratte potatoes, and to finish, a delicious Danish cake with green apple sorbet. All served with great humor by a very friendly restaurateur, in a small garden, in a magnificent setting overlooking St. Paul de Vence. A real find! We will gladly return and highly recommend it.

We went there last night, and what a pleasant surprise! We were welcomed like family, even with our 45kg dog. The view of Saint-Paul-de-Vence was magnificent, and the food was delicious and home-style. We had the tasting menu, which was excellent. You have a choice between fish or meat, and we opted for the smoked fish cooked over a wood fire. The owner was exceptionally kind. We were able to bring our Cane Corso without any problems, and she tasted every single dish, which was a huge plus for us. There was a little something extra on every table, like mosquito repellent, which we really appreciated. In short, I highly recommend this restaurant. The prices are affordable, the food is high quality, and the service is impeccable and incredibly friendly.

This is a truly unique experience. First, the arrival is not for the faint of heart. As others have said, the driveway down to the restaurant is steep and difficult to see fully until you take a deep breath and move forward. But it’s definitely worth the effort and, in some ways, part of the charm. The place is rustic, but in a positive way. It has a setting that is unmatched in St. Paul de Vence because it’s the only venue that looks across at the village from the east side. Most important, the food is wonderful. I agree with other comments about the smoked trout — outstanding. But my wife ordered the chicken and it was absolutely delicious. The owner/chef/sometimes waiter works very hard and is gracious and accommodating. We were dubious at first, but are so happy we decided to come. I can barely remember some of the places we’ve eaten in the area because after a while they all blur together, but this one will take first place in our three weeks here. Oh yes, one more thing. The value for the food and experience is amazing. Both the food and wine are very reasonably priced. It not only feels like you are eating authentic, fresh food in someone else’s home who cares about your experience — that’s actually what you are doing.
